Press Release
By Congressman Aaron Bean
05-01-24
While the House of Representatives was out of session this week, I continued my fight to defend Jewish students across America. I joined Representative Michael Lawler to introduce H.R. 6090, the Antisemitism Awareness Act. This bill would require the U.S. Department of Education to consider the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) working definition of antisemitism when enforcing federal anti-discrimination law.
While university leadership across the nation fails to protect their Jewish students from the flagrant antisemitic calls for genocide and violence, I’m taking a stand with and for all Jewish students. Read more HERE .
BEAN, CAMMACK BILL HEADED TO WHITE HOUSE TO BECOME LAW
This week, my bill with Representative Kat Cammack—to rename the Melrose post office after local letter carrier Pamela “Pam” Jane Rock, who tragically died while delivering mail in northeast Florida—has passed the Senate. It’s now headed to the President’s desk for his signature.
Designating the Melrose Post Office in her name will honor her legacy in the community she loved. I am very proud to see our bill unanimously passed the Senate and is one step away from memorializing Pam’s memory and commitment to Floridians.

Duval County Finalist—Noel Ethridge, Internally I am Aware of What I Am Capable of, but Who Decided What Is and Isn’t Authenticity and Why Can’t I Figure Out If I Am Who I Say I Am?, Paxon School for Advanced Studies

Nassau County Finalist—Lillian Logsdon, ART NOUVEAU, Fernandina Beach High School
I’m excited to have Andie’s artwork on display in the United States Capitol for the next year. Additional student artwork will be featured as part of a Student Gallery at the Jacksonville International Airport and will be displayed from May 13th through July 31st.
MATTHEW GILBERT MIDDLE SCHOOL VISIT

I had the opportunity to visit Matthew Gilbert Middle School in Jacksonville. These talented students are learning about the importance of financial literacy, and they had some impressive questions!
They have a bright future ahead of them, and I encouraged them to dream big, work hard, and never lose sight of their potential to make a positive impact.
TOURING ZIMMER BIOMET

Zimmer Biomet in Jacksonville is a cutting-edge manufacturing facility for implants and digital technologies. We got a great tour of the facility, and we held an employee townhall where I learned more about issues affecting their industry.
IMPORTANT PASSPORT ANNOUNCEMENT
After the Department of State (DoS) experienced a record volume of passport applications and an increase in wait times last year, I am pleased to announce passport services have returned to normal processing times. There is no better time to apply for a passport than right now:
Routine: 6-8 weeks
Expedited: 2-3 weeks and an extra $60
Additionally, the DoS has implemented a new online passport appointment system for travelers who are departing the country within two weeks. For more information on scheduling an appointment, visit PassportAppointment.Travel.State.gov .
Sincerely,
Congressman Aaron Bean
