The human body is a major miracle of God. The Lord God has designed every part of our body to act in a supernatural fashion. We study this in school and medical school but do not fully appreciate the miracle that God has given us. Most people just take their body for granted. But we need to be thankful every day for the miracle that God has given us to be the “temple of the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 16:19-20. The miracle of the human body is overwhelming evidence of the existence of a Creator/God.
The human brain works on 7 watts of power and is more powerful that the greatest computer man has devised! And, science now confirms that you can actually change your brain by prayer. Prayer regulates emotions, calms the nervous system and rewires the brain for peace. Not meditation. Prayer to God!
The body is designed to heal itself. This is amazing. We get a cut, and put on a bandage and in a few hours, the body has already formed a scab! Wow. And fasting allows the body to heal by triggering cellular repair to clear out damaged parts, reducing inflammation, and boosting stem cell regeneration.
The human heart pumps 100,000 times a day and 2,000 gallons of blood! During a lifetime, a heart beats 3 billion times! Nobody knows why a heart begins to beat in an unborn baby. Only God can start a heart beating and only God can stop it. We also know that the heart has a brain! The heart brain has 40,000 neurons which control emotions, memory and decision-making. It actually thinks independently of the head brain.
Our blood system is composed of arteries, veins and capillaries, which are enough to circle the earth twice! They deliver oxygen, nutrients, hormones and waste every minute of the day.
The nervous system of the body is amazing. The body contains seven (7) trillion nerves that constantly transmit signals to our body and back again. Their messages move at 268 miles per hour. Every blink of our eyes, every heartbeat, very movement depend on them.
Our skeletal system contains 206 bones, which protect our organs, store calcium, produce blood cells, and anchor all our muscles. Our bones are stronger than steel!
And the blood, nerves, bones and muscles are constantly communicating with each other to insure proper activity from hunger to danger to joy!
The human eye is amazing. Because of the eye we are able to see and appreciate the world God has created. We can see in color and can even see at night. The eye functions like a sophisticated camera, but it constantly adapts and heals. It has many parts that work in perfect harmony to convert light to electrical signals that the braincan interpret. The eye can process information faster than any camera, adjusting colors and light sensitivity almost instantly. The retina has millions of light sensitive cells that produce a high resolution full color image to the brain. Pupils dilate within seconds to allow us to see even in a dark room. Eyes are our second most complex organ, second only to the brain. There are over one million nerves connecting the eye to the brain.
The human reproductive system is spectacular. Each sperm contains the same data as 32 million movies and 100 million books. The sperm swim toward the egg, but we now know that the fastest sperm does not always win. The egg decides which sperm may enter, creating a major spark of light which is the beginning of human life! Life clearly does begin at conception. The embryo begins to divide and multiply immediately, and has formed all major body parts by 12 weeks.
The mind body connection is truly amazing. If the mind is peaceful, it sends signals to the body and nervous system to be at peace. And we now know that prayer can actually change the brain and make the body more peaceful and more healthy. Proverbs 4:13 says “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.”
The human heart actually has a brain! This is a new discovery. The heart contains a little brain that sends signals to the head brain and the whole body in terms of emotions. The Bible says “guard your heart, for from the heart flows the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:23.
Our ears are great. They allow us to hear God’s great world of noise and music and speech. They are self-cleaning and ever growing. They control balance and even process sound in our sleep. We have 20,000 hair cells in the inner ear to convert vibrations into electrical signals for the brain.
Our liver is a powerhouse organ, and is capable of regenerating itself. It performs over 200 important jobs like detoxing blood, storing energy and fighting infections. It is the largest solid organ and is essential for life. It is the only organ that can fully regenerate, and can regrow damaged tissues! It is the metabolism laboratory and manages energy and processes nutrients. It even generates heat.
Our kidneys are amazing filters, processing huge amounts of blood daily, removing waste and balancing electrolytes, producing hormones, and controlling blood pressure.
Our lungs also are wonderful. Science now confirms that we say the name of God, “Yaweh” every time we breath in and out! They constantly supply oxygen, remove C0 2 waste, control our ph balance, enable speech and singing, support circulation, filter blood and help regulate blood pressure and mood. They trap viruses and bacteria and pollutants using mucus and cilia.
God says in the Bible that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made”. Psalm 139:14. And this is so true. The miracle of the human body is tremendous evidence for the existence of our Creator/God, the King of the Universe!
We need to thank God every day for the miracle of the human body!
