When Fernandina Beach’s Mocama Brewing teetered on the brink of collapse this spring, tech entrepreneur Andrew Batey had little reason to jump in — other than a personal love for the taproom he and his wife frequented daily.

But with distribution contracts days from default, the Amelia Island resident made a choice: either let the brewery fade or step up to save it.
