Opinion

By Dave Scott, 8-16-24

Following the forced ouster of Joe Biden, the Democrats had moved quickly to repackage Kamala Harris, who has been cast by both sides as an inept cackling dolt for the past three and one-half years.

Whoever’s in charge of her campaign is doing their best to keep her away from the media and on a teleprompter least she launch into an incomprehensible verbal rampage about “Ven diagrams” or the “passage of time.”

She’s currently being displayed by them as the salvation of the country after almost four years of buffoonery.

The following headline and article in the Babylon Bee says it best: “’I Will Fix Things If You Vote Me Into Office,’ Says Woman Currently In Office”

With Biden and Harris at the helm, the U.S. has seen a sharp economic decline, rising inflation, waves of illegal immigration into the country, and increased tensions around the globe. Harris urged voters to elect her so that she could find solutions to the things that have been going on since she was elected. “There is only one way to stop the things that are destroying this country,” Harris said. “And that’s by electing the person who has been overseeing the destruction of this country.”

At publishing time, the Harris campaign released a statement telling voters that restoring the peace and prosperity of the Trump administration could only be accomplished by keeping Trump out of office.

I somehow missed the Harris transition from insanity to normal.

The far left has surrounded themselves with sexual deviants, mentally ill people who don’t know their own sex, and want to pass this abhorrence on to our kids or grandchildren as being normal. They have a wide open border with millions of illegals pouring in and going on crime rampages. They put them up in hotels, give them debit cards and tell us the border is secure and that these illegals should be able to vote. And there is so much more…..

The only qualification I can detect for Harris is that her husband, the possible First Gentleman, got his nanny pregnant. As I recall didn’t Biden play that nanny game with wife Jill before she was his wife?

The Voters Will Judge: Last week I reported that lawyer Ashley Cox, a candidate for Circuit Judge 4th Judicial Circuit, Group 34, told a group of mostly Republican members of the Nassau County “We The People” group, that she is a conservative. Her opponent, Nancy Cleaveland, said she too is a conservative.

The difference between the two candidates is that Ms. Cleaveland, a registered Republican, was telling the truth. Ms. Cox, a registered Democrat, was not. Ms. Cox must have assumed that the folks at the session were collectively stupid.

I also reported that Ms. Cox contributed $500 to disgraced Democrat candidate Andrew Gillum’s campaign. I was wrong. She handed $1,500 to the failed and disgraced Democrat Gillum.

A further search reveals that Ms. Cox has donated $3,500 the past few years to Democrat candidates for state and federal office, not a dime to a Republican. That’s not how conservative folks dole out campaign contributions.

In addition to Gillum she gave $500 to Senator Rick Scott’s senatorial opponent Gwen Graham; $500 to Democrat  Alex Sink in her losing gubernatorial bid for governor in 2010 and $1000, to Joe Biden through Act Blue, a Democrat PAC.

This alleged “conservative” is a lousy judge of character, as every bet she’s placed lost. This is not the person I want judging others from the bench.

I’ve had several folks personally tell me how much they admire and respect Ms. Cleaveland. The ones that mention Ms. Cox are not complimentary, just the opposite.

On election day, August 20, voters will judge. With my vote I’m ruling in favor of Ms. Cleaveland and sentencing Ms. Cox to remain in private life.

Speaking Of Judges: The following letter written by former California judge Keith M. Alber appeared in the Epoch Times in 2021 under the title “Opinion From a Former Judge.” Even the left leaning Snopes admitted the letter was authentic. Here it is:

Opinion From a Former Judge

I am a student of law whose age is 85. My first year of college was 68 years ago. One class I took was political science. A half-page of my textbook essentially outlined a few steps to overturn a democracy.

1) Divide the nation philosophically.2) Foment racial strife.3) Cause distrust of police authority.4) Swarm the nation’s borders indiscriminately and unconstitutionally.5) Engender the military strength to weaken it.6) Overburden citizens with more unfair taxation.7) Encourage civil rioting and discourage accountability for all crime.8) Control all balloting.9) Control all media.

What was printed in 1954 as a possible diabolic nightmare has become an emerging reality. I hope that Americans will unite enough to pen a good finish – God willing.

Keith M. Alber, California

Snopes contacted Alber over the phone and he admitted he wrote the letter. Alber said he wrote the letter in October 2021 and sent it to The Epoch Times newspaper which printed it.

He said he couldn’t remember the name of the college textbook he referenced, though he recalled having the book in 1954 when he attended “Napa College,” what is now called Napa Valley College.

They asked Alber if he had anything to add regarding his letter, “Opinion From a Former Judge.” He shared the following:

“At the time I read [the steps to overturn a democracy] back in 1954, I thought, ‘That could never happen. That would be a nightmare.’ And it would be disastrous for this country if that ever did happen. Years later, when it was happening, the attempt to achieve those goals was a reality. I became very alarmed. I have pretty much dedicated my life to the justice system and laws. I was a bench officer for 25 years in the Superior Court, and I’ve been interviewed by many news people. I don’t know, I just feel [the current state of the country is] a very sad comment on the public being so dumb.”

Wait! What? “Chicago was less violent when Al Capone ruled the Chicago Outfit. He wouldn’t allow the murder of women and children” wrote Michael Flynn, a former Chicago police lieutenant, in an August 12 Wall Street Journal”  Letter To The Editor.”

Fat Men From Space sightings were verified this week, one on the South end of Amelia Island at Bantam & Biddy, the other at PJD’s Beer & Wine Garden in downtown Fernandina Beach.

Here’s what the fat guys’ dispatches had to report:

PJD’s Beer & Wine Garden: This is my kind of place. A downtown location but off the proverbial beaten path.

PJD Burger

The 12 South 2nd Street setting offers enough beer (and wine) to satisfy any brewski enthusiast. The atmosphere is nothing like anywhere else in the downtown area. The pajama man proprietor and his awesome staff make sure of it.

If you’re downtown Fernandina Beach and looking for a beer and burger for lunch, and  a bit bored,  this is the spot for you. You cannot beat the price! For just $I0 you won’t find a better deal. I ordered the bacon burger. It’s a typical pub-style burger. It’s a nice hearty patty with bacon and grilled onions served with French fries.

The fries were good, not great but better than average. However, the burger was damn good. I’m a huge fan of grilled onions on a burger, add bacon and you got yourself a nice quality burger. Ketchup, mustard, and mayo are offered on the side.

Beers? They have a huge beer selection of some 200 to pair with this burger. Not only can you have a good burger with a beer at PJD’S, but you’re also guaranteed some fascinating conversation with locals and entertainment from the pajama man himself. This is not your typical downtown tourist spot.

Bantam & Biddy:  Every so often when I’m in the celestial neighborhood, I visit the big blue marble Earth. Then I go looking for a delicious cheeseburger.

Bantam & Biddy burger

Like presidential elections, it’s pretty “hit or miss”, I’ve found. Consider the cheeseburger I had recently at a joint called “Bantam & Biddy” located near the Harris-Teeter grocery store.

While it’s primarily a chicken joint, they have an extensive menu. Called the Doc Bauer Burger, their meaty treat features two patties, cheese, a few rings of a red onion and some sautéed mushrooms atop a gluten-free Brioche bun. How one bakes bread without gluten, escapes me. Maybe someone should ask Doc Bauer…but for $16.99 (Gulp!) you get one side and that’s that.

Call me picky, but who doesn’t want some lettuce and tomato on their burger? Not this time, no gluten, no salad! It’s an average affair with a high price, $18.18 out the door. I enjoyed the deviled egg salad as my side and it was the highlight of the meal, frankly. They have a few other sides available, but I can get fries anywhere on this planet. Each burger bite at this chicken joint costs about $3 bucks and it’s nothing to cluck about.
