PROJECTS/OPERATIONS:
The Amelia River Waterfront Park is nearing 20% complete. Construction of the pavilion and restrooms will begin within the next two weeks.
The construction of new batting cages are in progress within Central Park. Work is
expected to be completed and the facility opened by mid-June.
Ocean Rescue publishes report each month tracking their activity. There have been 2,500
“preventions” on our beaches since Spring Break.
The construction of a replacement new putt-putt facility at Main Beach will begin within
the next two weeks.
City management is fully engaged in the annual budget process. The 2025/2026 fiscal
year 2025/2026 begins October 1.
The design and engineering for the rehabilitation of Atlantic Ave has begun. This FDOT
funded project is scheduled to begin in the Spring of 2026 and is forecasted to take a year
to complete.
Thank you to the Amelia Island Plantation Ladies’ Association for their donation of $1,250 to the Amelia Island Lighthouse restoration project.
Lighthouse Driving Range at the Fernandina Beach Golf is back open! Hours are 7am7pm, seven days a week. Purchase range balls from the Clubhouse Proshop.
After a slight weather delay, the US Army Corps of Engineers’ began work on the
shore protection project, beginning near Main Beach.
Sixteen volunteers and City staff planted 1000 Spartina Grass plants at Escambia slough, part of an ongoing restoration program.
News and Promotions
In October 2023, the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) launched Nassau Florida Vision 2050, an 18- month collaborative effort to gain public feedback on the future of Nassau County, and to develop a plan based on the community’s desires to guide future
growth and development over the next 25 years. The draft Vision Plan will be available for public comment from April 9 to May 23, 2025. A Community Workshop will take place at City Hall on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 4:00pm. Please attend and share your thoughts.
