About Dr. David Brat

Before coming to Liberty University as Dean of the School of Business, Dr. Brat served in the United States Congress for Virginia’s 7th District. He served on the Budget, Education and Small Business Committees, and Chaired the subcommittee on Economic Growth, Tax and Capital Access.

Dr. Brat’s knowledge base comes from years of experience in business, as an economic consultant with Arthur Andersen and the World Bank and 20+ years of work in higher education teaching economics and ethics. He worked with the Senate side of the Virginia General Assembly for seven years. He also served as the president of the Virginia Association of Economists and was a member of the Virginia Board of Accountancy.

Dr. Brat is passionate about connecting and celebrating the long history between the life of the mind and the Christian tradition. His vision is to advance Liberty’s unique position in higher education as an institution which studies, teaches, knows and lives out the good life and actively puts faith to work in the real world of business and beyond as we train Champions for Christ.

Dave was just promoted to his current role: Vice-Provost for Engagement and Public Relations, so he is very excited to come speak to We the People and engage new friends on behalf of Liberty University.
