1: For all: Serious capital expenses are in the city’s future. Which one would be your first priority and why?
–Dealing with aging recreational facilities, including structures that inspectors say are on the border of being unfit for use.
–Finishing the riverbank stabilization and flood control project from the site of Atlantic Seafood to the new -Alachua Street rail crossing.
–Upgrading our popular, economically successful downtown, which was originally created in the 1970s: Fixing wavy sidewalks, redoing aging infrastructure under the streets then repaving, replacing troublesome lighting fixtures, improving plantings.
–Replacing a cracking, crumbling city hall building that is in the final stagees of being a safe and comfortable place for our city employees and citizen visitors.
2: For all: State and federal funds are available for a portion of the city’s looming capital costs, but they aren’t enough. New sources of revenue will be needed, What new source or sources would you support?
–A 20-30 year general obligation bond issue.
