About “Dinner with Booker T”
This powerful one-man show offers an inside historical look into the life of one of America’s greatest orators, educators, presidential advisors, and leaders advancing Black Americans during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Booker T. Washington. Based on his rise from slavery, to student, to educator, to national and worldwide leader, this 70-minute work is comprised of original rhetoric, research, song, dance, speeches, historical dialogue, and visual presentations. Written and performed by Broadway artist Darryl Reuben Hall, this show takes the audience on a journey into the life of Booker T. Washington by portraying the many friends and enemies that kept him strong in the fight for equality.
About Darryl Reuben Hall
Darryl Reuben Hall is an actor best known for Hitch, Men in Black 3, Oz, Down to Earth, and many more. Darryl is also the founder of Stage Aurora Theatrical Company with a mission ‘to enlighten the mind by way of the Arts through the African-American experience’. Darryl is the second oldest child of five to Mr. Edward Willie (1st African-American Postmaster of Daytona Beach, FL) and Dr. Dolores Hall (Doctorate in Mathematics/College Algebra and Trigonometry). Darryl got the acting bug when he won 1st prize in the William M. Raines Senior High School Talent Show at a time when no one in his family even knew he could sing. |
