Amelia Island Museum of History Brown Bag Lunch

July 3, 2024 | 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Don’t Miss This Week’s Brown Bag Lunch!

Brown Bag Lunch

July 3rd at noon

While no images of the pirate Luis Aury survive, other than this rough sketch, his impact on Amelia Island can still be felt today. Following the chaos of Gregor MacGregor’s departure, a new group quickly captured Fernandina—pirates. Join us as museum docent Regan Doran guides us through the story of Aury, the French privateer who raised the Mexican Rebel Flag over Amelia Island and established Fernandina as a unique location in Florida’s pirate past. This will be the seventh event in our year-long speaker series celebrating Fernandina’s 200th anniversary. Join us on July 3rd to learn more about this fascinating history!

Attendance is free and open to the public and attendants may bring their lunch. Seating is limited on a first come, first served basis. This program is wheelchair accessible.
