Press Release

By Congressman Aaron Bean

05-04-24

This week, Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su testified for a second time before the Committee on Education and Workforce. This time, she came seeking more taxpayer money to enact the Biden administration’s Big Labor agenda at the expense of hardworking Americans and job creators.

I kicked off my line of questioning by addressing the elephant in the room—ACTING Secretary Su’s still-pending Senate confirmation. Spoiler alert, she had problems responding to my questions and failed to give straight answers.

Under Su’s failed leadership, it’s been 419 days of punitive costs, regulatory burdens on small business owners, and limited opportunities for American workers. As a result, I have serious concerns about the devasting impacts of her overbearing agenda. This Committee will continue to examine the policies and priorities of the Department of Labor and hold it accountable.

PASSED: BILL TO SECURE FLORIDA’S COASTAL BORDER

The Biden administration is doing nothing to stop violent criminals, human smugglers, and terrorists from coming across the southern border. We cannot allow this to happen in Florida.

This week, I was proud to cosponsor and pass the Extending Limits of U.S. Customs Water Act. As the border invasion rages and the political chaos in Haiti intensifies, this timely legislation will allow CBP and our Coast Guard to intercept migrants and drug smugglers further offshore when they are trying to illegally enter the United States via our Florida waterways. Learn more HERE .

PROTECTING AMERICAN SOVEREIGNTY AGAINST WHO

After the Biden administration’s failed COVID-19 response and the World Health Organization’s (WHO) mismanagement of the pandemic, Americans remain skeptical of continuing infringements on personal liberties and freedoms.

That’s why I cosponsored Representative Tom Tiffany’s No WHO Pandemic Preparedness Treaty Without Senate Approval Act. This bill would provide more transparency in WHO agreements and a constitutional check on the administration. Learn more HERE .

COLLEGE CAMPUSES TAKEN HOSTAGE!
Image
It’s shocking that in 2024 students are unable to walk between classes. But it’s the reality for Jewish students. I joined the “Todd Starnes Show” to discuss the ongoing antisemitic protests happening on campuses across the nation and how Congress is pushing back. Listen HERE .

PROTECTING SMALL BUSINESSES AND THE 2ND AMENDMENT

This week, I joined Representative Mark Green to introduce the Stop Bureaucratic Ineptitude Shuttering Respectable and Upstanding Lawful Exporters Act (Stop the BIS RULE Act). This legislation comes after the Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) instituted a 90-day pause on the issuance of new export licenses involving certain firearms, related components, and ammunition.

If left in place, Biden’s BIS Rule will harm small businesses that sell firearms and ammunition while enriching black market gun dealers. Read more HERE .

NEXT WEEK: HEARING TO CONFRONT PERVASIVE ANTISEMITISM IN K-12 SCHOOLS
Image
Since the October 7th terrorist attack, we’ve seen a rise in antisemitic acts on college and university campuses, as well as in K-12 schools. So far, 246 antisemitic incidents have been reported in K-12 schools, a number that is both unacceptable and deeply concerning.

As the Chairman of the Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education Subcommittee, I’ll will be holding a hearing next week titled “Confronting Pervasive Antisemitism in K-12 Schools.” You can watch the livestream on Wednesday, May 8th at 10:15am on the Committee’s YouTube page .
