Press Release
By Congressman Aaron Bean
8/3/25
This week, I hosted a town hall with leaders from Florida Blue to tackle the real challenges facing our healthcare system—especially when it comes to delivering quality
care.
.
As a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, I’m not just listening—I’m taking action. I had the chance to discuss my bill, the Apples to Apples Comparison Act, which will bring transparency to healthcare pricing in Medicare and empower patients to make informed decisions without being blindsided by hidden costs.
These conversations matter. The real stories and concerns shared are shaping how I fight in Washington—for policies that strengthen care and expand access for all Northeast Floridians.
BIG WIN FOR NORTHEAST FLORIDA SCHOOLS
Victory secured! After I sent a letter to the Department of Education last week, the Administration reversed the freeze on critical K-12 formula grant funding, unlocking $7.87 million for Duval County Public Schools.
With weeks to go before students return, this funding delivers exactly what’s needed—fully staffed classrooms, stocked supplies, and teachers ready to hit the ground running. It’s a big win for our kids, a boost for educators, and a proud moment for the entire community.
NORTHEAST FLORIDA RUNS ON DUNKIN’
Earlier this week, I stopped by Dunkin’ Donuts in Jacksonville, where I met owner-operator Lokesh Patel and the hardworking team behind the coffee and those iconic pink frosted donuts with rainbow sprinkles.
We discussed challenges, ideas, and opportunities related to the food and beverage industry. One standout? The small business tax relief included in the One Big Beautiful Bill, which will support our job creators and ensure local franchisees like Lokesh can keep serving up joy, one donut at a time.
KICKING OFF THE SCHOOL YEAR WITH RIVER CITY SCIENCE ACADEMY
On Thursday, I was honored to join the River City Science Academy’s KickStart event—a high-energy celebration of our incredible educators who are shaping students’ futures.
As someone who was raised in a home built by teachers, I learned early on that education isn’t just about grades—it’s about unlocking potential. It’s that belief that drives my work in Washington, where I champion policies that protect students, empower parents, and ensure that every child—no matter their zip code—has the opportunity to succeed.
MEETING WITH NASSAU COUNTY ECONOMIC LEADERS
I had the pleasure of joining the Nassau County Chamber of Commerce for their Quarterly Membership Luncheon, where I shared an important update from Washington. We covered two major legislative milestones—the One Big Beautiful Bill and H.R.4, the Rescissions Act of 2025—both of which are now law.
Thanks to the leadership of the DOGE Caucus, we’ve eliminated $9 billion in wasteful government spending. For Main Street businesses, this matters. Cutting unnecessary spending means more room to protect pro-growth policies, reduce inflationary pressure, and ensure that federal investments actually support working families and local entrepreneurs—not bureaucratic bloat. It was energizing to hear from Nassau County’s business leaders, and I’ll keep fighting for policies that support economic strength from the ground up.
EMPOWERING NORTHEAST FLORIDA’S BUILDERS
I had the opportunity to attend a breakfast with the great folks at the Northeast Florida Builders Association in Jacksonville and talk about the transformative impact of the One Big Beautiful Bill.
From preserving critical Section 199A protections to eliminating unfair overtime taxes, this legislation is delivering the long-overdue tax certainty our builders deserve. I also provided an update from Washington on the action I’m taking to strengthen our economy and unleash American potential.
CHAMPIONING NORTHEAST FLORIDA VALUES
I was proud to receive the Champion of Limited Government Award from the Institute for Legislative Analysis, recognizing my fight to stop federal overreach from disrupting life in Northeast Florida.
From Fernandina Beach to Keystone Heights, folks believe in personal liberty, fiscal responsibility, and a government that knows its limit. As your voice in our nation’s capital, I’ll continue to protect our cherished freedoms and fight to keep Crazy Town out of our lives and wallets.
FIGHTING FOR OUR FOUR-LEGGED HEROES
I joined Tipping Point with Kara McKinney on One America News Network to sound the alarm: ICE agents are under siege—attacks have skyrocketed 830%—and their loyal canine and equine partners are in the crosshairs too.
They deserve real protection, not just praise—and the LEO K9 Protection Act will deliver tougher penalties against those who harm these heroic animals in the line of duty.
HURRICANE PREP JUST GOT EASIER
As of Friday, August 1, key disaster preparedness items are now permanently exempt from state sales tax—making it more affordable than ever to stock up and stay safe.
This year-round exemption, approved by the Florida Legislature and signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis, helps families stretch their budgets while assembling hurricane kits with essentials like:
-Batteries and portable power sources
-Generators & fuel containers
-Tarps, flashlights, and tie-downs
Whether you’re building your storm kit for the first time or replenishing worn-down gear, now is the time to act. See the complete list of eligible items HERE.
CASEWORK
When a Nassau County resident needed help securing a visa for her mother to immigrate to the U.S., she reached out to my office. We immediately got to work—coordinating with the Department of State and staying on the case for months until the visa was approved. Today, her mother is finally here in Northeast Florida, reunited with her family.
If you’re a constituent needing assistance with a federal agency, my team is ready to help. Call us at 904-830-3933.
Sincerely,![]()
