PROJECTS/OPERATIONS:
Due to window replacement project that is underway at the Atlantic Rec Center, the MLK Jr.
Rec Center pool is the only City pool available for public use until May 31. Hours are Saturdays 9am-2pm (closed from 10-11am for Aqua Aerobics), and Sundays from 9am-2pm.


The next phase of street resurfacing will begin the last week of March. This phase will focus on roads within Isle de Mai.


The next segment of the Amelia Island trail system is currently under construction. This
Nassau County project provides for improved stormwater drainage systems and a multi-use
pavement along the Amelia Island Parkway.


Beach renourishment work continues and equipment is currently working around the Main
Beach area. This project is funded through the federal government as part of the Nassau
County Shore Protection program.


The Atlantic Ave rehabilitation project is scheduled to begin Spring of 2026 and is currently in the design/engineering phase. This project is budgeted at $12 million and is funded and
managed by FDOT.

The Georgia Sea Turtle Center in partnership with the Wild Amelia Nature Festival and the
Amelia Island Sea Turtle Watch released four sea turtles at Main Beach.

We welcomed 14 new Lifeguards to our Ocean Rescue team this weekend at a graduation ceremony signifying their successful completion of training.

City Yard Waste services are back on schedule after the spring influx. Please ensure vegetative waste is piled at the edge of your yard, away from obstructions and drains.

The City’s Water Department replaced a pipe at the future Amelia Waterfront Park site.
This particular pipe serves as fire protection for the adjacent docks.

News and Promotions

VFW Post 4351 will host the annual Memorial Day
Ceremony to honor fallen soldiers and POWs on
Monday, May 26, at 11:00am. Bring your own chair to
the intersection of Front and Centre Streets to watch.
Ceremony will include speeches, a performance of
TAPS as well as the laying of the wreath.


Nassau County Extreme Weather Coalition will open
a cooling center at First Missionary Baptist Church
(32 S 9 Street) on days when the heat index exceeds th
