PROJECTS/OPERATIONS:
The Paid Parking Political Committee Initiative petition has been certified by the Nassau
County Supervisor of Elections. Consideration by the City Commission has been placed
on the October 21 meeting agenda.
Due to other project delays, the rehabilitation of Atlantic Ave has been pushed to
Summer of 2026. This FDOT funded project is expected to take 12-18 months to
complete.
The Grocery Getter shuttle is still in service and provides transportation twice a week to
Winn-Dixie off island. The times and pickup locations are provided at www.fbfl.us
The MLK Jr Sports fields redevelopment project is 90% designed. Plans will be shared
with City advisory boards and the Commission over the next few weeks. This project is
scheduled to commence in Spring of 2026.
The North 2nd St streetscape redevelopment continues on schedule. The rebuild of the
road and the installation of new sidewalks/curbing are currently underway.
The Peg-Leg Pete pirate statue will soon be removed for preservation. This statue is
located near the Train Depot in the Downtown.
Utilities crews repair a challenging water main break on Atlantic Avenue near the Nassau County School Board office.
Repairs of manholes on 8 Street are scheduled to be completed the week of September 22.
The City of Fernandina Beach Fiscal Year 2025-2026 begins October 1, 2025.
The City of St Mary’s has submitted a request for proposals for a ferry service that will connect St Mary’s and Fernandina Beach.

NEWS/PROMOTIONS:
We are thrilled to announce that the City has been
awarded $50,000 through T-Mobile’s Hometown
Grant Program! This funding is for the installation of
a climbing playground at the waterfront, which will
give families a scenic place to gather, play, and
enjoy downtown.
T-Mobile selects recipients in partnership with
Main Street America. Representatives will have a
check presentation on stage at the Island Hop
Craft Beer Festival on October 4.
