PROJECTS/OPERATIONS:
– On August 4, N. 15th St. will be closed (Highland St. to Broome St.) from 7:00am to 5:00pm to allow the City’s Stormwater Department to perform stormwater system upgrades.
– The City’s budget process continues on schedule. The draft budget and Capital
Improvement Plan will be presented at the August 5 budget workshop meeting.
– Construction continues on segments 2, 3, and 4 of the Buccanneer Trail project. This
Nassau County managed project involves stormwater improvements and the
construction of a new multiuse trail along the Amelia Island Parkway.
– The water meter replacement project continues on schedule. This multi-year project
involves the replacement/upgrade of all water meters to an electronic smart meter. The
new meters will allow homeowners to track water usage through a digital interface.
– The North 2 Streetscape Redevelopment begins. First element will be the underground
of electrical lines. Sidewalks, curbing, stormwater improvements, and paving will follow.

Fernandina Beach Fire Department staff visited the Marina this week to conduct tests on the attenuator’s dry fire lines.

A second loaner life jacket kiosk has been installed by the US Coast Guard Aux Flotilla 14-1. This one is stationed at Seaside Park.

Join us on National Lighthouse Day (August 7)
for the grand re-opening of the Amelia Island
Lighthouse. Please park at the Atlantic
Recreation Center to take a shuttle to the
event. Shuttles will run from 2:20-2:50pm and
again on the conclusion of the ceremony.
Tours of the Lighthouse via the City’s Parks
and Recreation Department will resume later
