Press Release

By Congressman Aaron Bean

02-15-24

We all deserve to feel safe—from the crime in our cities, from the fentanyl in our communities, and from the invasion happening at the border. This week, House Republicans took a stand and voted to impeach DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for his failure to secure our border.

Under Secretary Mayorkas’ watch, there have been over 8.3 MILLION illegal crossings nationwide, over 7 MILLION illegal crossings at the southern border, 1.7 MILLION known gotaways, and 169 terrorists caught trying to cross the border—an all-time record.

Secretary Mayorkas’ failures cannot go unanswered. Northeast Florida and the American people deserve better. Now, it’s time for the Senate to do the right thing.

On Thursday, I spoke during the Committee on Small Business about the challenges facing small business contracting.

The government should be in the business of working for the people, not hurting them. Yet here we are with an administration that is not serving the American people OR small business owners.

CONGRESSMAN BEAN PUSHES BACK AGAINST BIDEN’S BIG LABOR BIAS

The Biden administration’s bias toward big labor is hurting America’s workforce. The U.S. Department of Labor’s latest proposed rule will cripple apprenticeship programs, worsen the shortage of skilled workers, and further harm small businesses.

I joined Rep. Roger Williams in sending a letter to DOL Secretary Su warning the agency’s proposed changes to the National Apprenticeship System would regulate small businesses into oblivion. Read more HERE.

I had the honor of announcing my 2024 U.S. Service Academy nominations during a special ceremony held at Naval Air Station Cecil Field in Jacksonville. This special evening was dedicated to recognizing the 16 exceptional Northeast Florida students who received congressional nominations to our nation’s prestigious service academies.

I was proud to nominate them and wish all our candidates the best of luck as they move forward with the application process. Read more HERE.
