Wildfire Prevention and Safety
The Florida Division of Emergency Management sent out a reminder for residents to stay vigilant about wildfire prevention as we experience drier-than-normal conditions around the State. While there is currently no burn ban in effect in Nassau County, everyone should take extra precautions to reduce the risk of fire.

Simple steps such as properly disposing of yard waste, avoiding activities that cause open flames or sparks, and keeping fire safety equipment accessible can make a big difference.

Nassau County Fire Chief Brady Rigdon is monitoring conditions closely and urges the community to stay alert and proactive in protecting lives and property.

Shop Small. Support Local. Celebrate Community

Saturday, November 29, 2025, is Small Business Saturday, a nationwide shopping day recognized on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.  It was created to encourage people to support small, locally owned businesses during the busy holiday shopping season.

The BOCC encourages Nassau County residents to kick off their holiday shopping by supporting the small businesses that make our community special. When you shop local, you’re doing more than checking gifts off your list. You’re helping strengthen our local economy, supporting local jobs, and keeping our downtowns vibrant and unique. From the family-owned shops to the neighborhood eateries and artisans, every purchase makes a meaningful difference.

Let’s show our small businesses some love on Small Business Satur and throughout the holiday season.

Transparency
The Nassau County Strategic Plan, adopted on May 18, 2022, identifies that the #1 Big Picture Goal of the Board of County Commissioners is to “Create a more effective, efficient, and transparent government.” As the #1 priority of the Nassau County BOCC, creating more transparent government guides policy-making, planning and decision- making.

Prior to the creation of the Florida Office of the Governor Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), the BOCC had already prioritized fiscal integrity, transparency, and is focused on creating a more efficient and effective local government over the past five years.
