Press Release

By Congressman Aaron Bean

11/16/25

In 1919, President Woodrow Wilson declared November 11th Armistice Day—a day to honor those who gave their all in World War I. In 1954, Congress amended Armistice Day to include all veterans who have fought for American freedom, effectively changing its name to Veterans Day. It is on this day that we salute our remarkably brave patriots who keep America safe.

This year, I was honored to join communities across Northeast Florida in paying tribute to our heroes. I addressed attendees at the Mayor’s Veterans Day Breakfast in Jacksonville, delivered remarks at Camp Blanding’s Veterans Day Ceremony, and attended the Veteran Appreciation Ceremony in Hilliard. At that event, I had the privilege of meeting Waldo E. Romero Sr., the oldest veteran present. Image
Each stop was a powerful reminder that Veterans Day is not just about reflection—it is about gratitude in action. It is about standing shoulder to shoulder with those who served, listening to their stories, and recommitting ourselves to ensuring they receive the honor, care, and support they deserve.

To all the American patriots who bravely, faithfully, and selflessly served to protect our freedoms and earned the title of veteran, thank you. We will forever cherish your service and sacrifice.

ENDING THE SHUTDOWNImage

On Wednesday night, I voted to end the Schumer Shutdown and restore full operations to the federal government. For 43 days, hardworking Americans missed paychecks, worried about feeding their families, and faced disruptions in vital services. We’ve said it from the start: our military, federal firefighters, and air traffic controllers should never be used as political pawns. The bill we passed funds the government through January 30 and fully supports our veterans and farmers. Along with my House Republican colleagues, I’ll keep fighting for a government that works for the people, not against them. Read more HERE .

HONORING AN EMS STAR OF LIFE RECIPIENTImage
I had the privilege of meeting constituent Corey Tucker of Century Ambulance, who was recognized as a Star of Life by the American Ambulance Association. Corey’s recognition stems from his remarkable actions during Hurricane Debby, when he came across a Spirit EMS ambulance stranded on the roadside. Instead of driving past, Corey stopped, offered his help, and used his mechanical expertise to get the crew safely back on mission.

His willingness to step in not only saved the team from the daunting task of hauling a broken ambulance more than 1,100 miles back to Ohio, but also ensured lifesaving aid reached Floridians in need. Corey’s story shines a spotlight on the compassion and dedication that define the EMS community, and I was honored to thank him personally for his service.

AMERICAN MADE AT SAFT BATTERYImageRecently, I toured the Saft American Battery Manufacturing Facility in Jacksonville, where cutting‑edge technology is driving the future of American energy. Saft has announced plans to double the size of its plant at Cecil Commerce Center—a major investment that will create new jobs and strengthen Northeast Florida’s economy.

This kind of growth is possible thanks to the Working Families Tax Cut, which has fostered an environment for businesses to invest, expand, and thrive. By lowering costs and encouraging innovation, we’re seeing companies like Saft make bold commitments to our community. In Congress, I’ll continue to fight for pro-growth policies that support working families, attract investment, and ensure Jacksonville remains a hub for opportunity and innovation.

FIGHTING FOR FLORIDA’S FISHERIES

This week, I joined Congressman Rutherford in urging U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick to approve an Exempted Fishing Permit (EFP) application for the State of Florida. This application would enhance data collection and grant our state the authority to lead the management of the recreational red snapper fishery in federal waters throughout the South Atlantic.

For years, anglers have been restricted to one-or two-day seasons, even though red snapper stocks are healthy, thanks to conservation and compliance efforts. As your Congressman, I will continue to advocate for state-led management and to work alongside Governor DeSantis and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission to ensure fair access for recreational anglers in Northeast Florida and across the state.

THE LONGEST SHUTDOWN IN HISTORY IS OVERImageCLICK HERE TO WATCH

On Thursday night, I joined Ed Henry’s “The Briefing” on Newsmax to discuss the reopening of our government after the longest shutdown in history and the future of American healthcare.

Later Thursday night, I joined Kent Justice on News4Jax at 10 p.m. to discuss the government reopening and the future of American healthcare, and returned at 11 p.m. to highlight the impact of the Schumer Shutdown on Northeast Floridians.

IMPORTANT ALERT: PROTECTING AGAINST SOCIAL SECURITY SCAMS

The Social Security Administration’s Office of the Inspector General is warning Americans about a new imposter scam. The message being circulated by email contains the subject line “Alert: Social Security Account Issues Detected,” and includes an attachment on fake SSA letterhead. The attachment falsely claims your Social Security number will be suspended within 24 hours and that you face criminal prosecution, urging recipients to call a number immediately.

If you receive such an email, do not respond, do not open the attachment, and do not call the number provided. The SSA will never threaten to suspend your Social Security number or demand immediate action under threat of prosecution. Learn more HERE .

CASEWORK CORNER

A constituent recently received an immigration interview notice that mistakenly listed the location as Texas instead of Florida. Naturally, this caused confusion and concern. After reaching out to our office, a member of the Bean Team immediately contacted the Jacksonville Immigration Office to resolve the issue. By the end of the day, they issued a corrected notice with the proper location, allowing the constituent to move forward without delay.

Helping constituents resolve issues like this is one of the most important parts of our work. If you ever encounter a problem with a federal agency, please know that my office is here to assist you.
