Railroad Crossing Closures Beginning Monday, November 17th

As announced on October 27, 2025, CSX Railroad has notified Nassau County of upcoming railroad crossing closures for maintenance and repairs. This is a reminder that work in Nassau County will begin Monday, November 17, 2025.
While a tentative schedule has been provided, please keep in mind that adjustments may occur due to CSX’s progress, weather, or other unforeseen factors. The good news is that CSX offers a fully interactive Google map where residents can view each impacted crossing and access daily, real-time updates. Simply click on any icon at any time to see the latest information. This is the quickest and most convenient way to stay informed and plan your travel accordingly.
Seasonal Hours for Splash Pad

With the recent time change, the Splash Pad’s hours are now 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.

It’s going to be chilly on Monday and Tuesday (Nov 10th and 11th), so we’ll be closing the Splash Pad for cleaning and maintenance while the temperature dips. Bundle up, enjoy the cool weather, and we’ll have the Splash Pad sparkling again by Wednesday.
If you notice any concerns, please contact Nassau County Parks & Recreation at (904) 530-6120 Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm, or the on-call number after 5:00 p.m. and on weekends at (904) 430-3156.
Peanut Butter Drive

We’re thrilled to announce that our community donated 347 jars during this year’s Peanut Butter Challenge. That’s equivalent to 592 pounds!

All donations will stay right here in Nassau County, helping to stock local food pantries and support families in need. A special thank you to UF/IFAS Nassau County for coordinating this effort and making it all possible.

Thank you as well to wonderful community. Your generosity makes a real difference. Thank you for helping fight hunger for our neighbors and friends in Nassau County.
NCFR Food Drive for Thanksgiving

Nassau County Fire Rescue has partnered with the Barnabas Center to host a Thanksgiving Food Drive, and are collecting non-perishable food donations now through November 24th at any Nassau County fire station. If crews are out on a call when you stop by, please feel free to leave your donation safely at the front door of the station.
Let’s come together as a community to ensure no family goes hungry this Thanksgiving. Every donation makes a difference!
A heartfelt thank you to Nassau County Fire Rescue and Barnabas Center for their continued commitment to helping Nassau County families in need.
See the Sticker: Recycle Smarter
Exciting news, Nassau County residents! Our recycling program got an upgrade. Our new recycling decals make it easier than ever to recycle right. No more guessing or contamination. Be sure to look for the updated decals on all bins at County drop-off sites. Also, be sure to download our new new Residential Recycling Guide at nassaufl.co/recycling.
Together, we’re making recycling simple, clear, and effective for everyone in Nassau County!
Daylight Saving Time Checklist
Just a friendly reminder that as we “fall back” for the time change, it’s also the perfect time to check your smoke detectors and replace the batteries if needed. Working smoke alarms save lives by providing an early warning in case of fire.
Take a few minutes to test your alarms and make sure your family is protected. A quick check today can make all the difference tomorrow!
Turtle Talk Tuesday

For our final Turtle Talk Tuesday of the year, we caught up with our incredible partners at Amelia Island Sea Turtle Watch (AISTW) for a look back at the 2025 nesting season. While nest numbers were lower than average, the year was still full of exciting moments, including a rare leatherback nest and more than 11,000 hatchlings making their way safely to the sea!
Read on for a season snapshot, island-wide totals, and a special thank-you to the volunteers and partners who help protect these amazing creatures every year

Nassau County government offices will be closed on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in observance of Veterans Day. We take this time to honor and thank all who have served and continue to serve in the United States Armed Forces.

Offices will reopen for normal business hours on Wednesday, November 12.We encourage everyone to take a moment to recognize the sacrifices made by our veterans and to participate in local Veterans Day events taking place throughout the community.
Transparency
The Nassau County Strategic Plan, adopted on May 18, 2022, identifies that the #1 Big Picture Goal of the Board of County Commissioners is to “Create a more effective, efficient, and transparent government.” As the #1 priority of the Nassau County BOCC, creating more transparent government guides policy-making, planning and decision- making.

Prior to the creation of the Florida Office of the Governor Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), the BOCC had already prioritized fiscal integrity, transparency, and is focused on creating a more efficient and effective local government over the past five years.
