News from Representative Aaron Bean

We are now on day 19 of the Senate-led government shutdown, and communities across the nation are feeling its impact. This week marked the tenth time the Senate voted on the House passed funding bill to reopen the government, yet they failed to pass it again.

As the shutdown continues, real Americans are experiencing real pain. While the Trump administration has taken steps to ensure our service members received pay and programs like WIC remain funded through the reallocation of unused resources, many others remain in limbo. Air traffic controllers, homeland security personnel, and numerous federal workers are showing up to work without pay—many who were living paycheck to paycheck. Families in Northeast Florida are also facing disruptions to essential services they depend on every day. Image

Knowing this, I cannot in good conscience accept my own paycheck. That’s why I’ve chosen to withhold my pay until the Senate takes action to reopen the government and restore stability for those who serve our nation.

INSIDE REGENCY CENTERSImage
I visited Regency Centers’ headquarters in Jacksonville, a hometown success story and a national leader in retail development. Founded in 1963, Regency has grown into one of the largest operators of grocery-anchored shopping centers in the country, helping shape the commercial landscape of Northeast Florida and beyond.

During our conversation, we discussed their central tenets, recent projects, and the broader impact of their work, including job creation and neighborhood revitalization. It’s inspiring to see how a Jacksonville-based company continues to drive growth nationwide while staying deeply connected to the community that helped launch it.

MEETING WITH THE FLASHESImage

I had a fantastic time visiting Hilliard Middle-Senior High School in Nassau County, where I spoke to over 500 students about how our government works and why civic engagement is essential.

I kicked things off with a classic, “I’m Just a Bill” from Schoolhouse Rock, a timeless way to introduce the legislative process. From there, we dove into a real-world look at how a bill becomes a law, what it’s like to serve in Congress, and how they can make their voices heard—even before they’re old enough to vote. Visits like these remind me that the future of our democracy is in good hands. Thank you to the faculty and staff at Hilliard for the warm welcome, and to the students for bringing their A-game.

TOURING GRACE ARESOSPACEImage

I recently visited Grace Aerospace in Jacksonville, where I saw firsthand how Northeast Florida’s manufacturing sector is driving innovation, creating high-quality jobs, and contributing to our national defense. Grace’s advanced aerospace components and skilled workforce exemplify the kind of American ingenuity that keeps our economy strong and competitive.

Back in Washington, I’m working to build on that momentum by removing barriers to growth, supporting job creators, and investing in the industries that power our future. When we champion manufacturing and equip our workforce with the tools to succeed, we lay the foundation for lasting prosperity across our state and nation.

NEVER AGAIN IS NOW

Image

After 738 days of heartbreak, the remaining hostages taken during the October 7th massacre in Israel have been released. I commend President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu for helping secure their freedom through ceasefire agreements. Their leadership marks a critical step forward, and I remain committed to supporting the 20-point plan that offers a clear path to ending the conflict and restoring lasting stability in the region.

While that moment brought relief, we have not—and will never—forget the 1,200 innocent men, women, and children brutally murdered by Hamas terrorists. I remain committed to doing everything in my power to prevent another October 7th because “never again” is not just a phrase—never again is now.

Right now, 13,000 air traffic controllers are working without pay. This is unacceptable. I joined Real America with Dan Ball on One America News Network to discuss how my bill, the Aviation Funding Stability Act, fights for the men and women who keep us safe when we fly.
