A thought occurred to me on this solemn day of remembrance, September 11, (which also happens to be my birthday). As another year passes in my life, it is a good time for self-reflection. The sad murder of Charlie Kirk on September 10th only adds to our grief as a nation. How did we, as Christians, allow our Biblical worldview and values to be denigrated and classified as just our politics? The secular culture politicizes everything so they can secure control, power and wealth. They want to divide and conquer, destroy our beloved freedoms and country, by turning families and fellow Americans against each other, inciting hate and violence, all to destroy our traditions, faith, and patriotism.
They are accomplishing this by dehumanizing anyone who is not onboard with their Godless, secular beliefs. It is easy to understand the constant acts of senseless violence going on in our country daily when you push the idea that it’s normal and justified to end another innocent person’s life because you deem them unworthy. How did we come to think it acceptable in a civilized society to commit generational genocide by infanticide with on demand abortions? Allow minor children to play video games for entertainment that simulate war, mass murder and mayhem? Permit fellow humans to commit crimes against citizens with no consequences? Allow social media and AI to contribute to teen depression and suicidal tendencies? Go along with the mutilation of gender confused minors, when it was considered a mental condition treated with extended therapy, not harmful medications and surgeries just a decade ago? Use taxpayer money to permit drug use among addicts? Approve lawlessness by endorsing violent protests, Anti-Semitism and open borders?
Without a commitment to our faith and belief in our God-given rights from our Creator, as Charlie Kirk personified, we cannot fulfill His purpose for us. Evil will always be present in our fallen world, and we have be vigilant. But we can never give in to the temptation of becoming the cowardly, Godless, hateful mob that we see on social media or the radical liberal talking heads on mainstream networks. I often wonder- what happened to make these people so angry, bitter and heartless? Maybe the lack of faith and God in their lives is an explanation. People that celebrated the assassination of Charlie Kirk, a man of deep personal faith, that made vile comments on tv about him and his family should be deeply ashamed. If they think this will silence Christian Conservatives, they will be disappointed. This heinous act only makes us more determined to speak out and be more committed to our cause, just like the attempted assassinations on President Trump solidified his election.
All of these moral issues are clearly addressed in the Bible. Jesus certainly involved himself in cultural and governmental issues in his day! Thou shalt not commit murder. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. “Suffer the little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me, for such is the kingdom of heaven.” In Jesus’ words, we must Believe as a child does, with innocence and humility, because the Kingdom of Heaven is made up of people with these qualities. So, it goes without saying we must protect our children. Love each other as I have loved you,” Jesus says. Thou shalt not worship any other gods/ idols before me. We all tend to create idols in our lives- Ideology, money, power, possessions-it’s a dangerous distraction. God must always be FIRST. As Christians, we understand that we would not have Gods Son, Jesus , without the Jewish people. They are His Chosen people, and Israel is their Home-blessed and provided by God and where Jesus will return.
This does not mean we turn a blind eye, or feel we must accept secular, ungodly ideas and beliefs that are clearly evil and even demonic in some cases. Demonic, some say with clear skepticism? Don’t believe in demons? There is clearly a demonic spirit prevalent in our culture. A prime example is shooting into a church mass where children are praying to kill innocents. Stabbing and killing an innocent young woman heading home after work on public transit. Read the Bible- Jesus believed in demons, and demons sure believed in Him! We must understand we are not in a flesh and blood battle, but a spiritual war. Satan roams the earth like a roaring lion, looking to devour us. Thank God for our Lion, Jesus, the Lion of Judah- our redeemer.
We, as Christ followers, are not to judge or condemn, but to share the Gospel, so that we can bring everyone into God’s love, light, and eternal life. To allow all people to live in the freedom of God’s grace, acceptance and forgiveness. The Bible may be an ancient book, but it is still relevant. As God, in his infinite wisdom recognizes, culture and technology may change, but human nature and frailty do not.
For Christians, death holds no fear for us- it is merely a direct route to Heaven and Jesus. Rest in peace, Charlie- we are grateful for your service to our young people and country. You will be greatly missed, but I know Jesus is telling you “ well done, good and faithful servant.”
