Press Release
By Congressman Aaron Bean
9/22/25
This week, the House passed a clean, short-term continuing resolution (CR) to fund the government through November 21. This vote is about more than just keeping the lights on—it’s about standing with our men and women in uniform, federal law enforcement professionals, and air traffic controllers, making sure they’re paid on time and that critical services continue without interruption. ![]() MAKING SOCIAL SECURITY CLEAR ![]() On Wednesday, the House Ways and Means Committee passed a bill that I co-led—H.R. 5284, the Claiming Age Clarity Act —to help seniors better understand how retirement age affects their Social Security benefits. The bill updates outdated terminology, making it easier for Americans to make informed decisions about their financial future. As retirement planning grows more complex, seniors in Northeast Florida deserve clear, accurate information. This bill cuts through confusion so they can confidently explore their options and maximize their benefits. Read more HERE . COMMEMORATING COURAGE, CONDEMNING VIOLENCE ![]() This week, I joined Speaker Johnson and my colleagues in Statuary Hall to honor the life of a true American patriot—Charlie Kirk. His unwavering devotion to our country and the Constitution left a lasting legacy that will not be forgotten. In recognition of his contributions, I was proud to co-sponsor and support H. Res. 719, a resolution commemorating Charlie’s impact and reaffirming our commitment to civility and unity in public discourse. This resolution sends a powerful message: political violence—and any attempt to glorify or celebrate it—has no place in our democracy and must be unequivocally condemned. STANDING UP FOR MILITARY FAMILIESFollowing disturbing reports of unsafe living conditions affecting military families nationwide, I sent a letter calling for a full review of the Military Housing Privatization Initiative (MHPI). I’ve heard directly from Northeast Floridians whose families have suffered from toxic mold, contractor negligence, and dangerous housing conditions. These stories are heartbreaking and unacceptable. Our service members put everything on the line to defend this nation—the very least we can do is ensure their families have safe, healthy homes. That’s why I’m taking action. Read more HERE . WELCOMING FUTURE LEADERS TO CAPITOL HILL ![]() I had the pleasure of meeting with students from St. Johns Country Day School during their visit to Capitol Hill. We had a lively discussion about major legislative efforts happening in Congress, including my work to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse in government spending. It’s always inspiring to see the next generation engaged in the legislative process. If you or your school group are interested in visiting, please connect with our D.C. team at 202-225-0123. We would love to host you. YOUR VOICE, MY PRIORITY ![]() Missed the call? No worries—we’re doing it again in October. Sign up here to make sure you’re part of next month’s conversation. HONORING OUR POW/MIA HEROES ![]() Friday marked National Prisoner of War Missing in Action Recognition Day, a solemn day to remember the more than 500,000 American prisoners of war who endured the horrors of enemy captivity, and the tens of thousands of patriots still missing in action. But these heroes and their families deserve more than a single day of remembrance. They deserve a permanent place of honor. That’s why I introduced legislation to designate the POW/MIA Memorial Museum at Cecil Field in Northeast Florida as a national landmark—a lasting tribute to their bravery and our nation’s unwavering commitment to never forget. FINAL WEEK TO APPLY FOR A MILITARY ACADEMY NOMINATION ![]() It’s the final countdown! If you’ve dreamed of serving your country and leading with honor, now’s your time to act.
