Summary of 7/21/25 District-wide Conference Call
To We the People – For those of you who were unable to participate in Congressman Aaron Bean’s conference call earlier this week, here are my notes. Please understand that some people may have asked questions based on false premises. I’m including all the questions, below, as they were raised and addressed.
Congressman Bean’s Opening Comments:

The Big Beautiful Bill (BBB) has been the Congressman’s big focus this past month.

Elon Musk has asked Congress to please enable a payment system to track what is paid to who and for what purposes, across the entire government.

The Congressman has 21 speaking gigs (in-district) lined up for August.

Question: There has been a decision to cut Medicare. Who are you targeting of the 1.4 M people?

Answer: There are no cuts to Medicare, but there are major changes to Medicaid in the Big Beautiful Bill, such as requiring 20 hours of work per week for “able bodied” people (with the exception of those excused from that like caregivers). Rather, 1.4M illegal aliens were kicked off, and another 7M people were kicked off who should have never been on Medicaid in the first place.

Question: I’m concerned about local infrastructure timelines. Why do things take years when it seems they could be done in months, including the release of the Epstein files?

Answer: Regarding local projects / permitting: These are things that the state should handle versus the Army Corps of Engineers (such as water projects). I’m working right now on a bill to speed things up. It seems like no one is held accountable. I haven’t had a chance to vote on releasing the Epstein files. There will be two procedural votes between now and September, then we’ll vote on releasing the Epstein files.

Question: Regarding Social Security and Medicare, there is a projected cut of 25% to SS and 4% cut to Medicare unless Bean stops it. Why not make EVERYONE pay for Social Security and Medicare?

Answer: We are removing illegals from accessing these systems, and Social Security is indeed in trouble. Congress has to make some big, difficult decisions which may mean delays in benefits (to new people) but this won’t impact anyone who is already legally on Social Security. The Big Beautiful Bill makes no changes to Medicare, only changes to Medicaid. We want Medicare to be available for all people when they are old enough. We also want more transparency from big insurance companies who cover fee-for-service. Healthcare coasts have gone up dramatically and it seems we are paying more than the true costs to deliver these services.

Question: How are you working with Congressman John Rutherford (i.e. Duval County) for the funding of the 36-mile Emerald Trail from the urban core of Jacksonville to the suburbs?

Answer: There was a large, $147M pull-back in the grant for anything not already started. Instead, they are now doing piecemeal grants instead to finish building out the Emerald Trail.

Question: Regarding DOGE work, the $9B Rescission package is great. The problem is public safety considering all the terrorist sleeper cells that have been allowed to enter the country. Can’t we make the wearing of masks illegal at public protests?

Answer: Every incident is different. ICE is getting bricks and stones thrown at them and their vehicles in Sanctuary Cities and states that don’t support them. We have to keep in mind that organ transplant recipients have to wear a mask. We support ICE agents covering their identity to eliminate their being doxed.

Question: My father and I are both military veterans. What about Birthright citizenship deportations?

Answer: If you are here in the US illegally, even as a veteran, you have to go back where you came from if you are not a citizen in order to not be deported. Then you can come back the right way. The courts have been looking into the meaning of “birthright” citizenship.

Question: ICE looks like they are trying to instill fear in people. I am a veteran. It is not acceptable for ICE to violate my Constitutional rights.

Answer: I understand where you are coming from, but we are a nation of laws. You cannot come here illegally. I’m truly sorry for everyone who has to go back home, especially young people who were born here after their parents came here illegally. Unfortunately, harm to ICE agents is up 850% (with them getting doxed and injured).

Question: I’m a veteran and fiscal conservative, but it’ scary that unidentified people can just role up and arrest people. What is it about the Big Beautiful Bill and it’s multi-trillions $ deficit that will impact Florida?

Answer: There will no longer be tax on Social Security. There will be expanded tax cuts for young people. Small businesses are pleading to keep small business taxes low. This gives hope to our economy. It does in crease the debt ceiling by $5T, but you have to look at how it will bring in more $$$ to the treasury so we can begin to pay down the national debt.

Question: Regarding Social Security, we are 81 and 83-years-old. We’ve been married 66 years. Our Medicare premiums keep going up every year and so do property taxes, more than the increase in our Social Security payments. Seems you never really own your property with property taxes going up every year.

Answer: The good news is with the BBB, there is no longer tax on Social Security, and Cost of Living increases will go into effect in February. The State of FL is looking into how property taxes might be lowered in the state.

Question: I’m a mom with a little boy. I was home schooled and I want the same for my son. Kids get $10K / year for attending public school, How can the federal government pay us $10K/ year to pay for home-schooling?

Answer: Education is a state issue, not a federal government issue. the BBB expands 529 accounts which might offer more coverage for home schoolers..

Question: Regarding the Debt and the deficit: How can we hold people running the VA accountable for replacing / updating equipment and systems at the VA?

Answer: Please call my office for help / assistance with the VA .Q

Question: I was in the Marines. Marines are held accountable and illegals need to get out. 70M people’s Social Security numbers and other data was stolen from AT&T databases, and all the compensation we got for that was 1-year of free credit monitoring. There is no accountability by AT&T for that data breach. Why do they even have our SSNs on file? We should have life-time credit monitoring from them over what happened. We need a bill to require this!

Answer: I agree that you should get more than one-year of credit monitoring. We will look into that.

Question: I’m retired Army, 100% disabled. What are you doing about the unfair taxes on our retirement, such as on our VA benefits and DOD retirement?

Answer: Combat veterans get 100% of their disability paid. I’ll look into it.

Question: Regarding ICE, is there some way that Congress can go after employers for hiring illegals so ICE won’t have to?

Answer: Florida has e-verify, although many companies are exempt, based on the size of their company. Congress should look into this. It shouldn’t all be put on ICE to address.

Question: Regarding the Big Beautiful Bill, Tax cuts are only for the top 20% of wage earners. Trump is supposed to get criminals out of the country, not Grandmas.

Answer: If you are paying taxes, you will benefit from the BBB. The average family of 4 will save $1700 / year. If you have a child, your tax credit is doubled. There is more charitable giving credit. This is the largest tax cut for the middle class / working class in US history.

Question: I own 2 small businesses. Trump tariffs are costing us because our lowest cost suppliers are outside this country. We need a longer period of time to find suppliers in the US and transition to US-made products. You can’t just change suppliers overnight.

Answer: This is the Great American Reset. It’s focused on FAIR trade, not free trade.
