Press Release

By Congressman Aaron Bean

5/17/25

The Ways and Means Committee worked through the night—from 2:30pm Tuesday to 8:00am Wednesday—in a grueling 17+ hour markup of our portion of President Trump’s One, Big Beautiful Bill. Exhausting? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely. ImageCLICK HERE TO WATCH MY REMARKS

As your Congressman, I have been fighting tirelessly for working families, small businesses, and seniors to keep more of their hard-earned money, not less—and that’s exactly what this bill delivers. No tax on tips, no tax on overtime pay, tax relief for our seniors, and a larger child tax credit. In addition, I have championed expanding the use of health savings accounts, increasing the standard deduction that benefits all Northeast Florida families, and expanding educational opportunities by creating a tax credit for students to attend private schools.

By extending and expanding successful provisions within the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, we are laying the foundation for an economy that works for everyone, not just today, but for generations to come. I look forward to getting this America First bill to the President’s desk.

BACKING THE BLUEImage
CLICK HERE FOR A SPECIAL VIDEO MESSAGE

This is National Police Week, a time to salute the incredibly brave patriots who defend the thin blue line. As your congressman, I am working to restore the rule of law across the country. In order to successfully do this, I believe our law enforcement officers need our support. That’s why this week, I was proud to help pass:

H.R. 2240, Improving Law Enforcement Officer Safety and Wellness Through Data Act, to strengthen protections for law enforcement by enhancing data collection on attacks against police.

H.R. 2255, the Federal Law Enforcement Officer Service Weapon Purchase Act, to expand law enforcement’s access to firearms that they were trained to use.

H.R. 2243, LEOSA Reform Act of 2024, to enhance off-duty and retired law enforcement officers’ ability to defend our communities.

Our message is unmistakable: We will always Back the Blue.

CALLING FOR COMPLETE AND PERMANENT SUSPENSION OF IRAN’S NUCLEAR PROGRAM

Maximum pressure produces results. Weakness brings war. President Trump’s maximum pressure campaign on Iran is designed to deny the world’s foremost state sponsor of terrorism the means to conduct its destructive foreign policy.

This week, I joined Representative August Pfluger in issuing a statement strongly supporting the administration’s efforts to eliminate the Iranian nuclear threat once and for all. Read more HERE .

Such was the case for a constituent from Green Cove Springs, who had been waiting for 11 months for one of his final interviews. After reaching out to my office, my staff was quickly able to get in touch with the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees the process. The constituent was able to get his interview and is now a United States citizen!
