Faith
By Judge John Marshall Meisburg, Jr., 4-16-25
The National Day of Prayer is May 1, 2025. In Nassau County, we will celebrate that event on Amelia Island on May 1st at First Baptist Church ( 1600 South 8th Street, Fernandina Beach) from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. This is an Interdenominational community prayer meeting for America, and all are welcome to attend and pray!
In past years, we have postponed the National Day of Prayer on Amelia Island for one week because of the Shrimp Parade. But this year, we decided to pray on the same night as the entire nation. We believe that there is great power in unified corporate and national prayer. “The prayers of a righteous man availeth much”. James 5:16. And, we are promised that if we, as believers and the body of Christ “humble ourselves and pray, and turn from our wicked ways, that God will heal our land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14.
During the National Day of Prayer event on Amelia Island, we will begin with a time of praise and worship, to usher in the presence of the Lord. We will first thank God for a pro-life Christian President, and answering our prayers for a righteous government. The Bible says: “When the righteous rule, the people rejoice!” Proverbs 29:2. So we will rejoice and celebrate all of the answers to prayer we have seen in the last year; indeed God answered many of the prayers we prayed last year at the National Day of Prayer!
Then, we will pray for God to restore the Seven (7) Mountains of Influence in our culture to righteousness. In 1975, Bill Bright of Campus Crusade for Christ, and Loren Cunningham of Youth With as Mission (YWAM) both had a vision of the need to pray for the 7 Mountains of Influence in our culture and nation. The 7 Mountains are: (1) Religion and the church (2) Education and the Schools (3) Government and the Courts. (4)Family and Marriage. (5) Arts and Entertainment. (6) Media and (7)Business. In praying for our Government, we will certainly pray for our President, Donald Trump, as the Lord commands us to do. 1 Timiothy 2:1-3.
After we pray for the 7 Mountains of Influence, we will, for the first time, have a time of “Rapid Fire Prayer” from the congregation – short 30-60 second prayers for America.
This means that everyone who attends this prayer meeting will have an opportunity to come up and pray for America. We do not want this to be a show or a performance. We want this to be a real prayer meeting for America, and we will invite the Holy Spirit to guide our prayers. We will pray “Your will be done, in America, as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:10.
Jesus once said “Ask anything in My Name and I will do it.” John 14:14. So, at the National Day of Prayer, we will be praying in Jesus Name, to restore the 7 Mountains of Influence in our culture to righteousness, to advance the Kingdom of God.
The 2025 National Day of Prayer Scripture is found in Romans 15:13 which reads: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace, as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” At the end of our meeting we will have a time of prayer at the Altar, and the pastors from many churches will be praying for the people, that they would be filled with all joy and peace as they trust in Him, so that they would overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
So please join us Thursday night, May 1st at First Baptist Church on 8th Street, Amelia Island at 6:30PM as we cry out to the Lord for our country at the National Day of Prayer!
