Press Release

By Congressman Aaron Bean

12/13/24

This week, the House of Representatives delivered what you, our nation, and the world needs: A strong America.

I was proud to help pass this year’s National Defense Authorization Act, which refocuses the military on its core mission of defending our nation, supports operations along our southern border, and puts an end to divisive ideological policies that have undermined recruitment, retention, and the morale of our military. Image
This critical legislation will provide a much needed 14.5% pay raise for junior enlisted service members and a 4.5% pay raise for all other service members. But that’s not all! It will also require the Department of Defense to undertake an annual independent audit, which in turn will save taxpayers $31 billion by cutting inefficient programs, obsolete weapons systems, and unnecessary Pentagon bureaucracy. As your voice in our nation’s capital, I will always defend our national interests because you deserve a military that doesn’t cater to any credo other than America First.

BEAN TO JOIN INFLUENTIAL WAYS AND MEANS COMMITTEEImage
It is a tremendous honor to be selected to serve on the Ways and Means Committee for the 119th Congress. With a $36 trillion debt, historically high inflation, and the largest pending tax increase in history, this is a critical time for our nation. I am eager to work with Chairman Smith and the Committee to advance a bold agenda that supports working families, lowers taxes, and accelerates our economy.

The Committee on Ways and Means is the oldest committee of the United States Congress and is the chief tax-writing committee in the House of Representatives. The Committee exercises jurisdiction over taxes, trade, health care, Social Security, and welfare. Learn more HERE

PASSED: WATER INFRASTRUCTURE BILL VITAL TO NORTHEAST FLORIDA
Congressman Bean joined members of the Army Corps of Engineers and Great Lakes Dredge and Dock to learn more about their efforts to preserve our Northeast Florida marine wildlife and restore beaches lost to erosion. On Tuesday, the House passed the Water Resource Development Act (WRDA) of 2024. This bill is a massive victory for the Fourth District, as it enhances environmental restoration efforts at Fort George and supports a new dry dock in Jacksonville.

I’m particularly grateful to have secured modifications to shoreline easements that are delaying critically important hurricane risk reduction projects. These wins will ensure our state can continue to address the unique needs of our communities. Read more HERE

PUSHING MEDICAID WORK REQUIREMENTS

Work is an honorable enterprise, and it promotes a dignified pathway out of poverty. Yet today, there are more than 1.5 million able-bodied adults on Medicaid who are not working. We can’t keep asking hardworking Americans to pay for services for their neighbors who refuse to work.

This week, I introduced a bill reforming work requirements for able-bodied adults receiving Medicaid benefits who are not in school and have no dependents. This bill is not only commonsense, but it would help lift millions off government dependence, save taxpayer dollars, and put America on the path of fiscal responsibility. Learn more HERE

MEETING WITH U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS FROM JACKSONVILLEImageRecently, I had a productive meeting with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District Commander Colonel Brandon Bowman discussing several key infrastructure projects in the Fourth District.

As a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I’ll always ensure the Corps has the resources it needs to carry out its critical missions.

CONGRESS CAN GIVE DOGE IDEAS PERMANENCY!ImageCLICK HERE TO WATCH

We know that anything that can be done with the president’s pen can be undone by the pen of the next president. I joined the Sunday Report on Newsmax to discuss how the DOGE Caucus can create long-term change.

CASEWORK CORNER

A constituent reached out with a VA authorization problem that had delayed care for his hip and knee issues for more than three months. After contacting our office and working with a dedicated team member, we were able to clear up the communication issue, so his provider received the VA authorization for care.

If you need help with a federal agency, my office is here to advocate on your behalf and cut through the red tape.  Contact us today!
