Steve Skolnick moved from frozen Minnesota to tropical Amelia Island in 2022. Today he is a docent at the Amelia Island Museum of History. A recent trip sponsored by the National World War II Museum commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day took him to Allied airfields in England and the Normandy beaches. Although his father served overseas and his mother scanned the skies at home for enemy planes, they rarely talked about the Second World War. With his curiosity about life here during the war piqued, the presentation, “Stories from the Home Front – Fernandina during World War II,” was born.
Join Steve this Friday, November 15 at 6 PM for our 3rd on 3rd program, where we will explore how close the World War II war came to our shores.
Attendance is free for museum members and a suggested donation of $5 for nonmembers. Seating is limited on a first come, first served basis. This program is wheelchair accessible.
