By Judge John Marshall Meisburg, Jr.

11/04/24

For decades, there has been a demonic attack upon our public school system in America.  In the 1970’s, a very liberal Supreme Court took prayer, Bible and God out of the public schools, creating a spiritual vacuum that resulted in great evil coming in.  Secular humanism became the religion and god of the public schools.  Little children were taken down the path of darkness, instead of the path of light.  We are now reaping the whirlwind as a nation.

But something even more evil is now happening.  The liberals like George Soros, Planned Parenthood and the ACLU have now actually placed pornographic books in our public school libraries.  Books that used to be only found in X rated bookstores are now found in the libraries of our public elementary and middle and high schools!

Nassau County is no exception.  The Christian ministry Citizens Defending Freedom (CDF) has now identified 46 pornographic books in the libraries of the public schools of Nassau County.  All of these books are in violation of Florida law.  CDF was able to remove a number of such books by objection.  But a lawsuit was filed by the liberals and the School Board settled the suit by actually putting these awful books back in the schools.  The School Board was afraid to take a stand for righteousness. They did not want to spend the money needed to fight the lawsuit, even though Christian legal groups probably would have represented them for no charge.   At a recent hearing before the School Board, several speakers attacked Christians in very hateful terms, and only one person stood up to object to a book.

Now is the time for the Christian community to take a stand on this issue, and stand up for righteousness in our schools.  Florida law says that books that are pornographic, and “depicts or describes sexual conduct”  are not allowed in the schools.  The law also says that any resident of Nassau County can object to one book per month, but a parent of a student can object to an unlimited number of books.  So, I am urging every church in the county to urge their congregation to start filing objections to these books.  The CDF has a list of 22 and 24 books (46 total) that are pornographic.  We need to flood the School Board with objections to all of these 46 books.   Below is a flyer that tells the Christians of Nassau County how to object to these 46 pornographic books. You can copy this flyer and distribute it to your church on Sunday morning.  And, I believe that every pastor in the county should address this issue from the pulpit.  We need to insure that the young people in the public schools are only reading great literature that educates, uplifts them, and makes them great citizens. Indeed, the Psalms of David are even greater than the Sonnets of Shakespeare, and the Supreme Court has now said that the Bible can be taught as literature in the public school classrooms. Let’s have our young people read the Bible, and other great literature, not pornography!

The Bible says:  “Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.”  Ephesians 5:11. The same people that support the unlimited right to abortion are also advocating pornography and sexual sin and perversion in our schools.  Now is the time for the Christians of our county to expose this evil and have in banned.  The very souls of our young people, and the next generation of America are at stake. Florida Governor DeSantis is on our side on this issue.  If the Nassau County School Board fails to remove these books, we can appeal their decision to the State Board of Education, and if necessary take court action.  Now is the time to act.
