
Meet our Speaker Johnathan Bryant
Jonathan Bryant is a docent at the Amelia Island Museum of History. He has published extensively on American law, slavery, emancipation, and Reconstruction. His book How Curious a Land won an academic prize, and Dark Places of the Earth won two academic awards and was a finalist for the 2016 Los Angeles Times Book Prize in History. He holds both J.D. and Ph.D. degrees. His academic experience includes serving as a Mellon Fellow in Southern Studies at Emory University, Professor of History and Jurisprudence at the University of Baltimore, and Professor of History and Graduate Program Director at Georgia Southern University.
