Press Release

By Congressman Aaron Bean

06-28-24

Under the Biden Administration one thing is clear— criminals, cartels, and terrorists from around the world are taking advantage of our porous border. President Biden has unilaterally disarmed the border by refusing to enforce existing laws and blatantly disregarding his oath of office endangering the lives of millions of Americans.

That’s why over 9.5 million illegal immigrants have unlawfully crossed our border from more than 160 countries, including countries on the State Sponsor of Terrorism list. And just this week, we learned more than 400 terror suspects—all with ties to ISIS—were released into our communities. The invasion won’t stop until the border is sealed. But here’s the good news. Today, House Republicans passed H.R. 8752, the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, legislation that counters the border invasion. Specifically, this bill:Funds 22,000 CBP agents.Includes $300 million for border security technology.Includes $600 billion for border wall construction.Provides for the removal of dangerous criminals and custody operations.Forces Secretary Mayorkas to adhere to U.S. border laws.Counters China.Removes woke initiatives impeding the Department’s primary mission of promoting American safety.

Bottom line: House Republicans are taking action.

During a Transportation and Infrastructure Committee hearing on Thursday, I had the opportunity to question Secretary Pete Buttigieg about his misguided priorities, including catering to radical climate activists and forcing American drivers to buy electric vehicles they don’t want, don’t need, and can’t afford.

When I asked Secretary Buttigieg to clarify his assertions that severe flight turbulence is caused by “climate change,” Buttigieg doubled down and replied, “turbulence has increased as a consequence to climate change.” And yet, his own National Transportation Safety Board disagrees and says turbulence is not increasing due to climate change.

PASSED OUT OF COMMITTEE: INFRASTRUCTURE BILL VITAL TO FL-04On Wednesday, the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee passed the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2024. This bill will unleash the power of our coastal communities, sustain American jobs, and provide authorization for the Army Corps of Engineers’ projects critical to addressing the unique needs of communities in Northeast Florida and the entire nation.

There are major water infrastructure wins in this bill for our state and I’m particularly proud to have played a role in ensuring Northeast Florida’s voice was heard loud and clear. Learn more HERE.

CALLING ON USPS TO IMPROVE TRANSPARENCY, DELIVERY TIMES IN JACKSONVILLE

Since January, I’ve had many constituents reach out with concerns regarding delivery delays and lost mail. Just like you, I rely on the USPS for timely delivery of parcels and understand it’s not just a service, it’s a critical resource.

That’s why on Tuesday, I joined Representative Buddy Carter in sending a letter to Postmaster General Louis Dejoy calling for transparency and operational improvements at the United States Postal Service (USPS) Regional Processing and Distribution Center (RPDC) in Jacksonville. Read more HERE

HEARING RECAP: GOVERNMENT CENSORSHIP OF MAIN STREET
ImageCLICK HERE TO WATCH

Free speech is not a threat to our democracy. It’s the Biden administration’s ongoing censorship and suppression of free speech that is a threat to our democracy.

On Wednesday, the House Small Business Committee held a hearing to examine how the federal government’s censorship of small business owners’ speech is negatively impacting their revenue streams. Together, we are working to hold the Biden administration’s collusion with Big Tech accountable and level the playing field for all small businesses.

CHATTING WITH NORTHEAST FLORIDIANS
ImageTuesday night, I held a town hall with more than 3,400 freedom-loving Patriots from across Clay, Duval, and Nassau counties. During the call, participants were fed up with the Biden administration’s consistent refusal to address the border invasion. Your priorities are my priorities in Crazy Town, and I will continue to demand policy changes to secure the border.

CASEWORK CORNER

The day before his medical appointment, a Northeast Florida veteran contacted our office with a referral issue. He was told if it wasn’t resolved by 4pm, his appointment would be rescheduled from June to October, significantly delaying his care. One of our dedicated staffers inquired with the Veterans Health Administration and by 3pm had successfully sorted out the referral issue so he could attend his appointment.

Are you a veteran struggling with the VA? My staff and I are here to help you. Call us today at 904-830-3933.
