Amelia Island Museum of History – January 2024 Brown Bag Lunch Features Dr. Bill Birdsong

January 3, 2024 | 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Brown Bag Lunch

Wednesday, January 3rd at noon

In 1564, French arrivals to this area wrote extensively about native Timucua people who appeared at once both male and female. These Timucua held crucial roles in their society: medics, warriors, and emissaries to the chief. January’s Brown Bag Lunch will be presented by Dr. Bill Birdsong, who will speak about these Timucua two-spirits and their roles in Timucua society. This Brown Bag Lunch will be the first event in our year-long speaker series celebrating Fernandina’s 200th anniversary and exploring the last five centuries of history in this area. Join us on January 3rd for Dr. Birdsong’s lecture and to learn more about the exciting events we have planned for 2024!

Attendance is free and open to the public and attendants may bring their lunch. Seating is limited on a first come, first served basis. This program is wheelchair accessible.
