Opinion

Since July 13th I have been beset by a weird euphoria.
On that day, the world changed forever.
The attempted assassination of former and likely future President Donald Trump was a pivotal moment in our history, and that of the world.
It revealed the extent of the hatred and evil that exist towards this man – towards you, me, and all those who believe in America as a shining light on a hill – and we watched as this hate fueled the most heinous action imaginable.
We don’t know who was behind it, but we know this:
1) Donald Trump has been and intends to be again the greatest bulwark against globalists and totalitarians around the world and right here at home. His stances against the World Economic Forum, Iran, the Chinese Communist Party, Hamas, and the Deep State have positioned him as enemy number one in the sights of all these entities who therefore want him gone. Without Trump, they have free rein. With Trump, their intentions are obstructed, at the very least.
2) The Secret Service failed at their number one objective, an objective that is a mantra, one of the truths we have always embraced: they are to shield their protectee even if it requires “taking a bullet” for him or her. We know now that the head of the Secret Service was a DEI hire and utterly incapable of taking on this mission, that other hires were woefully inept, that decisions were made that were absurd, that repeated requests for increased security were denied (January 6 and Benghazi, anyone?), that even the literal awareness of the presence of a “person of interest” didn’t lead to a delay in Trump’s speaking or removing him from the stage, let alone the taking out of the shooter.
3) Donald Trump has a warrior spirit, an unstoppable ferocity, and a DNA-deep love of this country and of the American people. The photographs of him under the podium, blood streaking down his face but with a clear-eyed calm, and the iconic fist-raised “FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT” photo, flag behind him and an intensity and fierceness fairly radiating from him, indicate the full measure of the man. Having literally just been shot, to have such spirit emanating… that’s America right there. He has encapsulated the American spirit, and it’s a marvel, a miracle, a gift for us to be witness to.
4) The world over, people have been witness to the ludicrousness of Joe Biden playing at being President. A man who can neither speak, nor walk, nor interact, nor play any role given to the “Leader of the Free World,” Joe Biden has made this nation, and the world, infinitely more dangerous than it has been in recent decades at the very least. The debate revealed what many of us already knew, and the exclamations of “WE HAD NO IDEA” were as disingenuous as they were inexcusable. The BIG LIE, the biggest hoax of all the hoaxes recently perpetrated by the Left on the American people, was the LIE that Joe Biden had full control over his faculties – even though the Special Robert Hur had declined to prosecute him as he wasn’t sufficiently compos mentis to take any responsibility. How was THAT not a clue?
5) Americans and people around the world, therefore, on July 13th, were witness to the greatest contrast one could imagine: the bumbling incompetent who needed help from the Secret Service when he tripped over his own feet or fell off his bike, versus the titan who stood up, enraged, fighting, towering over the Secret Service agents, having just been shot in the head. Strength vs. weakness, commanding vs. helpless, standing on his own against all lies vs. propped up as a caricature only with the aid of lies; caring of others vs. just trying to stand up. These aren’t differences in political ideology; they reveal a chasm between one kind of man and another. And the world saw it, and can’t unsee it.
6) That the timing was right before the RNC Convention is no coincidence. One must assume that the assassination of Donald Trump was not only to take him out, but to send the GOP into a chaotic frenzy in the days before the convention. There are those who believe that the intent was to replace him with his purported “runner up,” Nikki Haley, who would have been a weak but acceptable candidate to the America Last globalists. Again, what is on the line in November is America First vs. America Last globalism, and the Trump/MAGA side of the GOP is the biggest impediment to them and their agenda. Whether the intent was to replace him with Haley, or simply to take him out and create chaos, or to incite us to a violent reaction of the kind that the Left brings, we’ll probably never know, but there is a certain “logic” to the Nikki Haley theory.
7) There is no question that what we were witness to was a miracle. A centimeter to the left, and Donald Trump would have taken a fatal shot to the brain, and the assassination would have been a “successful” one, with him as a victim as was Corey Comperatore, or perhaps only Trump would have been assassinated. Even as I write it, it’s beyond comprehension. But of course that was the intent – NEVER forget that – and of course one thing after another facilitated the shots being fired, and the miraculous turning of Trump’s head at the right moment is the only thing that protected him from the kill shot. In addition, though, a centimeter to the right and he’d have been missed altogether, in which case the event would have, like it or not, been far less dramatic, far less potent.
The shot, in other words, was a perfect one, and to imagine it was “luck” (or bad luck, if you wanted him dead) is, to me, impossible to believe. For him to rise, fist pumping, blood on his face, enraged and exhorting us to FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT… To me, there is no greater sign of God’s favor than that.
8) There has been a clear resurgence of masculinity across the land, starting with Steve Bannon’s modeling of full-on alpha-maleness as he reported to prison on July 1st, through to Donald Trump’s defiant fist, to the obvious ineptitude of the women tasked with protecting him in Pennsylvania, to the choice of alpha-male J.D.Vance for VP. I wrote at greater length about this, but for now, I do think it’s fair to say that masculinity is back, and it’s time to celebrate it again.
All of the above leads me to this:
America was founded, grew and prospered with the help of one divine miracle after another, as outlined by Michael Medved and others. We also have learned that the Left will do all possible, up to and including the theft of elections and shooting the America First nominee in the head, to prevail. And this is, most assuredly, a battle between evil and good – not purely good of course, as no such thing exists among men, but certainly efforts and striving for good.
So my thinking is this, and has been: as we were worthy of miracles in the past, so, too, do I hope that we continue to be worthy of miracles. When we look around us, to Donald Trump, Charlie Kirk, Steve Bannon, Dennis Prager, you, me, the various fighters we know, it is my contention that not one of them, not me, not you, will be the savior of this nation, but I do believe that their efforts, our efforts, are evidence to the Miracle-Maker that we still are worthy, that despite the evil, vile, despicable works of the Left to wash us all in unspeakable muck and mire. He sees that there are those of us who strive, every day, to do His will, to honor our origins and our heritage and the sacrifice of those who have gone before us.
I had thought that we would discover on November 5th whether we would have been considered miracle-worthy or not. But on Saturday, 13 July, I felt that we were shown that truly, we are. Not only was Donald Trump wearing the Armor of God, as Steve Bannon said; not only was he saved by a miracle, but to me, what happened Saturday revealed that the entire nation was protected, that we were saved by a turn of a head, by a few millimeters, by a gust of wind, and He has His hand on us.
It’s not often one is witness to a miracle, to one as obvious as the one Saturday July 13th, and we are truly blessed to be living through this astounding time, aware of the wonder, and of the good, and of the world-changing nature of events.
So honestly, I have been weirdly euphoric since that day. And not one thing has made me feel less so. Not only euphoric, but there’s a boldness, a fearlessness that has arisen too. Steve Bannon went to prison, and went fighting. Donald Trump took a shot to the head and rose up fighting. Who are we to be afraid?
As my friend Kate reminds me, John Quincy Adams had said “The Duty is ours, the Results are God’s.” And I heartily believe that.
The nation is wearing the Armor of God – and so far, He continues to see us as miracle-worthy. Which means, we must continue to do our duty, and be worthy of those Miraculous results.
