 Ken Timmerman’s Threat Watch www.kentimmerman.com You may have seen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who rivals the vice-president as the dumbest woman in U.S politics, say this week that America’s fiscal crisis has nothing to do with run-away spending over the past two years. Oh, no. It’s the Trump tax cuts that got us to over $32 trillion in debt. I’m just waiting for Democrats and the media to blame Trump for another crisis that hasn’t yet crested in the minds of the public: a nuclear-armed Iran. This week we learned from the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Raphael Grossi, that Iran now has enough uranium enriched to 60% to make not one but as many as four nuclear weapons. That is an extraordinary statement from an IAEA leader. Normally you hear weasel words from the Vienna-based organization that I have visited many times (and even helped in uncovering Iraq’s nuclear weapons program in the 1990’s, as you can read in my latest book, And the Rest is History: Tales of Hostages, Arms Dealers, Dirty Tricks, and Spies). “One thing is true: They have amassed enough nuclear material for several nuclear weapons, not one at this point,” Grossi told European lawmakers this week. No surprise you haven’t heard much about it here in America. But the Israelis are paying attention, I can guarantee you that. And so is the U.S. military. Also this week, the U.S. and Israel held the first-ever joint military exercise to test the interoperability of their air-land-sea-and intelligence capabilities, Juniper Oak 2023. While they did not demonstrate an attack on Iran, watching Israeli and U.S. fighter jets line up in delta formation behind a B-52 sent a clear message to the mullahs in Tehran. (The U.S. and Israeli military have held Juniper Oak exercises for the past twenty years, but never on this scale and never to test interoperability). Former Israeli navy chief, Vice Admiral (ret). Evil Marum told an Israeli TV news channel on Thursday that Israel must attack Iran’s nuclear installations “in the upcoming year” because Iran has reached the nuclear threshold. Iran has turned off IAEA surveillance cameras and Israel has limited insight into its nuclear weaponry group, he said. “And when those two will be close one to the other, the moment to jump from threshold to holding nuclear weapons will be very, very short… and therefore I think the time to attack….means in the coming year.” Israelis call Admiral Marum “Chiney” because of his oriental appearance. I remember interviewing him after he ordered Operation Noah’s Ark, the naval commando raid that took out the Palestinian freighter “Karine-A” in the Red Sea in 2002, as it was carrying weapons from Iran to Gaza. Admiral Chiney is a serious man, not an outlyer. So keep your eyes on Iran as Israel in the coming weeks and months.
