The hateful rhetoric on both sides has been bad- but I wish all politicians would criticize the policies and unjust actions of politicians, not attack or demonize them personally. Trump has been constantly demonized, more so than any other politician in my memory. He’s been called worse than Hitler, a racist, a white supremacist, an insurrectionist, and a threat to our very democracy. Do his enemies not realize how insulting that is to his millions of supporters? Do they really think that millions of everyday hard-working, patriotic, mostly Christians, would support a person like that?
Of course, Trump’s supporters have been demonized as well.
We’ve been mocked, called rubes and “Christian Nationalists”( guess that means God-fearing patriots), even “smelly Wal-Mart shoppers.” Some are blue-collar workers, some are college-educated, professionals, and from many different races and backgrounds. But all are fellow Americans, who truly care about our country and believe Trump is sincere in his love of our country and wants the best for America and all her citizens. His vision of America and his policies during his 4 years sure worked better than what’s going on now. Why are his demonizers surprised someone tried to assassinate him? If you truly believe he’s “worse than Hitler” (of course, he’s not), who murdered millions of innocent people, then why wouldn’t someone believe he should be killed? Read Melania’s letter- it perfectly expresses how dangerous de-humanizing anyone is.
I am not a Biden supporter but it is so sad to see his mental and physical decline played out in public. It’s even more concerning for the security and peace of our country. I remember seeing emails from Hunters infamous laptop describing his dads already manifesting senility and dementia years before he ran for President. His family knows he’s compromised, and I cannot understand why they continue to subject someone they love to such humiliation, lie to all of us daily, not to mention, putting America and all her citizens in danger. I certainly hope it’s not just a self-serving, lust for power.
We are all imperfect, but we are all still children of God. We are all fallible and sinful humans, that’s why we need Jesus, our Lord and Savior. It’s also why we all need forgiveness and grace, including Donald Trump. Humans can only judge from the outside- but God sees what’s in our hearts and our true intentions. I also believe that’s why God’s hand is on Trump. So, after the attempt on his life, you have to admit it is truly a miracle he was spared. Read the story of Esther in the Bible- the Jewish queen that saved her people, who God placed “for such a time as this”. Trump is the rare human who could withstand the literal and figurative trials he’s been subjected to and only God gives that strength and knows that.
No worldly leader will save us- only Jesus, our Lord and Savior can do that. But, if you are a Christ follower, and have a Biblical worldview, you understand God uses humans to accomplish his missions; but so does Satan to promote evil.
The discourse in our country is Spiritual, not cultural. Our leaders are merely a reflection of ourselves. God has blessed America because we were founded on faith and Godly laws. If we don’t acknowledge that, we are doomed. PRAY for our country and each other, daily and fervently.
