| The Biden administration is increasingly trying to force a UN ceasefire on Israel and prevent Israel from wiping out the Hamas brigades in Rafah, all the while pretending to support Israel and condemn Hamas. In a truly bizarre wrinkle, a U.S. ceasefire resolution at the United Nations Security Council was vetoed on Friday by Russia and China. The Russians claimed the language was vague and “philosophical.” Rather than “demand” or “call” for a halt to hostilities, the U.S. text said that the Security Council “determines the imperative of an immediate and sustained cease-fire.” That’s diplo-speak for do nothing. So why introduce the resolution at all? Because Biden and the Democrats are increasingly watching their internal polls, and are worried that key demographics needed for a Biden win in November reject the U.S.-Israel special relationship and want the United States to promote a Palestinian state. Secretary of State Blinken met with Prime Minister Netanyahu on Friday in Jerusalem, and again pressed the Biden mantra: no attack on Rafah, humanitarian ceasefire, and increased aid to the Palestinians. To his credit, Bibi was polite, but firm. “I told [Blinken] that I greatly appreciate the fact that for more than five months we have been standing together in the war against Hamas,” Netanyahu later told reporters. “I also said that we have no way to defeat Hamas without entering Rafah and eliminating the remnant of the battalions there. I told him that I hope we would do this with US support but if necessary we will do it alone.” This week, the Ukrainian armed forces stepped up attacks inside Russia, and the Russians let them know they were not happy about it. On Friday, Russia launched 60 drones and 90 missiles against Ukraine’s power grid, including strikes on Kyiv and Kharkiv. At least one American ally – the Governor of the Central Bank of Latvia – supported the Biden administration’s plan to seize frozen Russian assets and turn them over to Ukraine – while more level heads in Italy warned that such actions violated international law and could lead to Russia to take retaliatory steps against Europe. President Biden and his minions are wedded to the unnecessary war in Ukraine, while they are seeking to make Israel back away from the very necessary war for survival it is fighting against Hamas. That is standing American values, and America’s interests, on their head.
