Press Release/Faith

By Judge John Marshall Meisburg, Jr., 3-29-25

The National Day of Prayer (NDP) will be observed this year on Thursday, May 1st.  The NDP Amelia Island Event will also take place on Thursday night, May 1st at First Baptist Church on Amelia Island at 6:30 pm.  This is an ecumenical, interdenominational prayer meeting, and all are welcome.  Please join us as we pray for America, the land we love.

We will start with Praise and Worship, and then will pray for the 7 Mountains of Influence in our culture.  In 1975, Bill Bright of Campus Crusade for Christ and Loren Cunningham of Youth With a Mission (YWAM) were both

given visions by the Lord of the 7 mountains of influence, and the need to pray for God to restore them to righteousness in our nation.  So, on May 1, we will pray for the 7 mountains which include (1) Religion and the Church (2) Education and the Schools (3) The Government  (4) Family and Marriage (5) Arts and Entertainment (6) The Media and (7) Business.  We will also add one more:  The Military and First Responders.

Later in the program, we will, for the first time, have Rapid Fire Prayer for America so the congregation can come up and pray 30-60 second prayers for the nation.

The National Day of Prayer is older than the nation itself.  In 1775, the Continental Congress called for a Day of Prayer for the new nation.   George Washington prayed in the snow at Valley Forge during the Revolutionary War.  Abraham Lincoln prayed in the White House to save the Union during the Civil War.  FDR and Eisenhower prayed for our troops during DDay and World War II.  And, President Bush prayed for the nation after 911.  The American people also prayed for 100 years to end slavery, and prayed over 50 years to end abortion and reverse Roe v Wade.  And God heard and answered all these prayers!

Jesus once said:  “You may ask anything in My Name, and I will do it.”  John 14:14.   So at the National Day of Prayer, we will ask the Father in Jesus Name to restore faith and righteousness to our nation, and bring a great revival to our land so millions of souls will be saved for the Kingdom of God!
