Press Release

By Nassau County Supervisor of Elections

02-24-23

Nassau County, FL, 2/23/23 – Janet H. Adkins, Nassau County Supervisor of Elections reassures voters on the status of their vote by mail request. The passage of Senate Bill 90 in 2021 altered Florida Statute 101.62(1)(a) by reducing the length of time that a mail ballot request is effective. Before its passage, a request to vote by mail was valid for two election cycles. Now, the request is valid for one election cycle. This bill also required all existing requests to expire on December 31, 2022.

In preparation for this change, our office redesigned our vote-by-mail envelopes to help voters who wished to continue to vote by mail. By “checking the box” and providing the required personal information, voters were able to renew their vote by mail request for the 2024 election cycle.

During the 2022 Election Cycle, our office received a combined total of 22,125 vote-by-mail return envelopes and we are now processing the 2024 mail ballot requests. We have processed approximately 25% of these requests and the remaining requests will be completed in the coming weeks. Voters may check the status of their mail ballot request by downloading the Vote Nassau FL mobile app and clicking the “My Voter Information” button.

The Nassau County Elections office continually strives to build trust, create transparency in the elections process and promote communication with the voters of Nassau County. “My staff and I are committed to protecting every citizen’s right to vote. We encourage every voter to Get Election Ready as we look ahead and prepare for 2024. ,” states Supervisor Janet Adkins.
