  • Two weather systems over the Atlantic Ocean have been pegged to possible turn into more serious storms
  • One system is much closer and the National Hurricane Center gave it an 80% chance of forming into a tropical storm by Friday
  • The US has seen an unusually quiet year in terms of hurricanes, partly because dust from the Sahara Desert dries up moisture needed for storms to grow 
  • While it’s been quiet so far, hurricane season can extend into October and meteorologists warn we may yet be hit by one
