Press Release

Nassau Citizens Defending Freedom won a one-and-a-half-year battle with the Nassau County School District (NCSD) and Starting Point Behavioral Healthcare (SPBH) to get public access to the Ripple Effects mental health curriculum being provided to students on school property. After an 11-month legal challenge, the judge agreed to all of CDF’s arguments and awarded access to the software by December 20, 2024.
In the meantime, the mental health counseling provider Starting Point Behavioral Healthcare disclosed, AFTER the Judge’s decision, that they had cancelled their contract with Ripple Effects on June 30, 2024 – in the middle of the trial, totally removing the mental health SEL software from Nassau County Schools.
This is a huge victory for the parents and students of Nassau County. The great news is that this Social Emotional Learning (SEL) mental health software has been totally removed from the Nassau County School District. Nassau CDF has been tracking and exposing SEL in our Nassau schools for several years now. This is just one example of many in Nassau Schools.
Some may ask What is SEL (“Social Emotional Learning”)? Moms for Liberty is so concerned that their first of nine 2025 lectures is on SEL. Marsha Metzger’s Parents on the Level cites SEL as a major problem in schools in her webinar series. Nassau CDF has brought SEL concerns to the school board and posted extensive resources online to expose the horrors of this educational nightmare parading as curriculum.
Regarding the clandestine undisclosed removal in the middle of trial testimony, what could they (School District personnel, Starting Point and Ripple Effects) be hiding that is so important that no one be allowed to see it? Why were they allowed to abuse the legal system this way to keep the trial going when the contract was cancelled? This is a continuation of the school district’s deception, lack of transparency, and abuse of the public’s right to know with regard to mental health and SEL curriculum!
The good news is that the Ripple Effects software is OUT of Nassau County Schools. The bad news is for the other states and counties who are still using this Ripple Effects software to possibly deceive, indoctrinate and manipulate school children. Nassau County used this software when the school district claimed having no access, no oversight, and offered no parent or citizen access to review the software.
