The Nassau County School District Superintendent Burns and Asst Supt. Durham both maintain that the new proposed Social Studies textbook ( “Florida World History Interactive” ) was selected in full compliance with their process and that the book is on the approved list.
But Citizens Defending Freedom Nassau Executive Director Jack Knocke has lodged a formal objection, claiming that there are major factual errors, that it is in violation of multiple state statutes, contains “Woke” propaganda and that the online, interactive portion collects data about students collects data about students that they can share with 3rd parties.
There is a hearing on this on Thursday, June 13 at 630 pm at School District HQ at 1201 Atlantic Avenue, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034
. There is an earlier budget workshop at 5 pm.
CDF has had a very difficult time getting responses to their information requests for curriculum data. They have sued the district over this. There will be a hearing on this at the downtown Fernandina Beach County Courthouse on 8th street on Tuesday, June 18 at 10 am.
