Press Release
By Nassau County Tax Collector’s Office
02-01-23
Nassau County taxpayers have saved over $8 million this year by paying their property taxes early. But time is running out to take advantage of the discount for early payment. While 2022 taxes are payable through March 31st without penalty, the February discount period is the final opportunity to earn a discount on the total tax due. Payments received by February 28th earn a one-percent discount.
Saving money is important to everyone. Our office wants to help taxpayers by reminding them to pay their taxes before they become delinquent. If taxes remain unpaid, the consequences can be expensive. A three-percent delinquent penalty is added to unpaid tax bills on April 1st. Unpaid taxes will be advertised for three weeks as delinquent in the newspaper per Florida Statute. The tax certificate sale is held in May on real estate accounts and tax warrants will be issued against tangible personal property accounts. Delinquent fees and interest continue to accrue on the unpaid balance. Failure to pay delinquent taxes can result in the loss of property.
