Carl Moody and I have put together a new research paper that examines the two major reasons that gun control advocates use to claim right-to-carry laws can increase crime: that more permitted guns mean more stolen guns, which means more guns for criminals, and that letting people carry guns interferes with the police. As opposed to other studies which treat all concealed handgun laws as the same and assume that the price of illegal guns provides you precise information on the number of stolen guns, we use data on the percent of the adult population with a permit, separate Constitutional Carry laws, and have data on the number of guns stolen. We must thank Congressman Thomas Massie for getting us the data on the number of guns stolen by state. I hope that you will download and read the paper. The more downloads it receives, the more you will force the researchers on the other side to respond to our research.
We also have a new post on the rate at which police officers are murdered with their guns. While gun control advocates want to compare the number murdered with their gun to the number of officers murdered, we compare it to the number of serious assaults on police. Not surprisingly, it makes a massive difference in interpreting the data.
Finally, we discuss how the views of blacks have changed over the last four years in terms of whether they believe Republicans or Democrats have done the most for blacks. The results are pretty startling.
An op-ed that I had in the Washington Times that pointed out the message from New York City is clear: don’t try defending yourself or anyone else from violence. If you do, the city’s District Attorneys will prosecute you.
My op-ed in the Wall Street Journal has continued to get coverage. Among the new radio shows that I have done include The Lars Larson Show, the Bill Martinez Show, the John Fredericks Show, Iowa’s KXEL, Salt Lake City’s Rod Arquette Show, South Florida’s WAVA FM, The Doug Wagner Show, the Michigan Talk Network, and Idaho’s KID radio.
I also tried taking Politifact to task for their evaluation of Biden’s claim that “Violent crime is near a 50-year low.” They claimed that Biden was accurate, but I pointed out to them that the National Crime Victimization Survey showed that violent crime increased from 16.4 in 2020 to 23.5 in 2022, a 43.3% increase. Unfortunately, Politifact has been unwilling to correct its conclusion.
Yet another TV police show has criminals using machine guns. In this instance, CBS’ FBI has criminals using a machine gun to commit a robbery.
We have also continued collecting cases where people legally carrying guns in public have stopped crimes. Here are the cases that we collected for February.
Among other news, Boston’s Mayor Michelle Wu is going to stop prosecuting shoplifting, larceny, and a wide range of other crimes. Joe Biden used the Sandy Hook Memorial to meet with the Chinese to set up a $10 million/year deal for his family. And, finally, how different types of likely voters think that Trump or Biden with make the U.S. safer.
Our continued coverage of the anti-gun bias in entertainment television had two episodes of NCIS Hawaii that showed machine guns being used by criminals. You would think Hawaii has had more machine gun murders on any given day than the entire U.S. has had since the 1930s (here and here).
We need help getting this message out. If you have friends you think might find our emails interesting, please encourage them to sign up by sending them the link here. Thank you very much.
