In science class with Mr. Miller at Callahan Intermediate School, students were presented with a hands-on experience to reinforce the flow of energy in a food chain. Students
identified each part of the food chain as a producer or consumer and labeled each animal as a herbivore, carnivore, or omnivore. Students took their parts of the food chain and made a paper chain to correctly show the flow of energy in the food chain. Overall, it was a creative task to help the students demonstrate their learning.

Mrs. Whicker’s Emma Love Hardee Elementary School art classes celebrated Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera by creating 3-dimensional artwork! 3rd graders created 3D flowers out of paper, arranged in a Rivera style mural. 4th and 5th graders painted items they created
with Model Magic to make 3D still life pieces of flowers and fruit inspired by Frida Kahlo. Each grade learned about their artists, both from Mexico, and the connections between them!

Excitement is intensifying as Ms. Myles’s 2nd grade class is preparing for their field trip to the Okefenokee Swamp! Before the adventure begins, they have been learning about the various reptiles and other species that live within the swamp! Students were also amazed to discover not only how close the swamp is to them but that it is the largest swamp in North America! As a fun way to end the day, students exercised their artistic talent and colored their own alligators for all to see!

Mrs. Chard, Ms. Constantine, Mrs. Hampton, Mrs. Marlow, Mrs. Miller, and
Mrs. Walker’s 2nd-grade classes from Yulee Primary School had an amazing and educational field trip to Hagan Ace Hardware! It was so exciting for the students to engage with all the hands-on activities at each station. From touching worms at the fishing station to learning about water systems, key cutting, safety tools, and forklift safety features, many valuable lessons were packed into the experience.
