Press Release

By Janet Adkins, Nassau County Supervisor of Elections

3/31/25

Nassau County’s 2024 election season was amazing.  We had the 9th highest voter turnout in Florida with an incredible 85.51% turnout in the general election.  This is our highest turnout ever.  Thank you to every voter who made your voice heard.

Countless hours of preparation go into each election, and having a great team makes all the difference.  Our team in the 2024 General Election consisted of 12 staff members, five canvassing board members, and 284 election workers.  We employed 374 election workers in the 2024 Presidential Preference Primary, Primary, and General Election.

Many people have congratulated our office on the conduct of the 2024 elections.  My response is always, “We have a great team.” No single person runs an election.  It takes a team of dedicated, capable, and courteous individuals who are focused on excellence and committed to the election process.

The competency demonstrated by Nassau County election workers strengthens voters’ trust and confidence in our elections.  Their knowledge and skills enrich the quality of the voting experience.  I am so very proud of them for their dedication and commitment.

To demonstrate our appreciation, we have asked the Nassau County Board of County Commissioners, the Fernandina Beach City Commission, the Hilliard Town Council, and the Callahan Town Council to adopt proclamations designating April as Election Worker Appreciation Month.  Additionally, we will host our first-ever Election Worker Appreciation Event to show our gratitude.

A public office is a public trust, and trust in our elections is paramount to our democracy.   Florida Statute mandates that election workers must be registered to vote in the county where they serve.  That means our election workers are our friends and neighbors.  Please join me in recognizing our friends and neighbors for their outstanding work.  Below is the schedule of meetings:

April 3, 7 pm      Hilliard Town Council

April 7, 7 pm      Callahan Town Council

April 15, 7 pm   Fernandina Beach City Commission

April 16, 9 am   Nassau County Board of County Commissioners

We are looking to recruit 70 new election workers for the 2026 election season.  If you are interested in being part of our team, please join us for Election Worker Orientation in 2025.  Visit our website at www.VoteNassauFL.gov/election-workers to complete the online application.  We look forward to working with you.
