The Board of County Commissioners, Nassau County Parks and Recreation, and the community came together on Monday to celebrate the opening of Nassau County’s first dog park. The new bark park is located within Nassau Crossing Park at 77480 William Burgess Blvd., Yulee.

The event on Apr. 24 began with a welcome message by Parks and Recreation Director, Jay Robertson. Robertson expressed the county’s excitement about the new dog park, and also spent a few minutes talking about the progress of Nassau Crossing Park.

The future looks bright for Nassau Crossing Park. Future amenities that were discussed included the soccer field, nature outlook, and splash park.

Pet safety was discussed and an overview of the park rules was provided to those in attendance.

Commissioner Klynt Farmer performed a ceremonial ribbon cutting.

The real fun was unleashed when all the dogs and their handlers were invited into the new park. The pets explored the obstacles that had been installed and had fun playing chase. Dogs were greeted by staff with complimentary treats.

The Nassau Crossing dog park is now open for residents to use at their leisure. Residents are urged to be responsible while enjoying use of the park.
