Nassau County Board of Commissioners Approve $8.66 Million: A.M. “Hupp” Huppmann Selected As Chair & Jeff Gray As Vice-Chair

YULEE, FLORIDA—The Nassau Board of Commissioners approved $8.63 million in expenditures at its Dec. 9 meeting.

Expenditure Approvals
Awarded an amount not to exceed $3 million for a three-year term to Giddens Security Corporation (Agenda C) for $1.2 million for Beach Park and Facility Security Services.
Approved an additional $273,000 (Agenda G) or a total agreement amount of $2.93 million for Phase 2 of the Amelia Island Parkway Trail.
Approved (Agenda E) an amount not to exceed $1.2 million with Tim-Prep, Inc. FY 2024-25 road-based materials.
Approved a contract (Agenda D) not to exceed $500,000 to Ferguson Enterprises LLC., for water, sewer and irrigation material.
(Note: All motions approved 5-0).

Other Board Actions
Reduced the Code Enforcement (Agenda N) which includes fine and from $32,600 to $26,000 on a property at 1230 N. Mulberry Landing Road in Hilliard for property owner Dena Holley. Motion approved 3-2.
Approved a Fernandina Beach Municipal Grant Funding Request (Agenda O) for the construction of new batting cages at Central Park.
Approved the purchase and sale agreement (Agenda P) for Chester Road and Pages Dairy Road intersection improvements.
Approve amended Board of County Commissioners operating policies and procedures (Agenda Q).

Nassau County October Newsletter
The October revenue from permit was $205,642 with 927 permits issued and 2,436 total inspections which includes 667 total active single-family residence permits with 55 reviews performed. The largest commercial project is Ashley Furniture Homestore at 29,569 square feet. Nassau County participates in efforts to reduce flood insurance premiums by 15 percent for residents, property owners, and businesses through the Community Rating System (CRS) Recertification. Nassau County Looking For Cat And Dog Foster Care Homes During Next 3 Weeks
Jackie Osborne of the Nassau County Animal Shelter stated that work will be on the kennel floors during the next three weeks with foster homes needed for both cats and dogs. Currently, there are 41 cats and 68 dogs in the kennel with 41 cats also in foster care and 77 dogs in foster care. Some 10 cats and 20 dog were adopted last month.
