George Washington inaugurated Thanksgiving as a national holiday, at the behest of Congress. His first Thanksgiving proclamation should be required reading for sixth-grade students, but it won’t. Judge for yourself:

“Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor,” Washington began, Americans should “beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions…”

Our leaders today mouth pieties, and do just the opposite. Or they accuse their political enemies of the evils they know they are most guilty of themselves.

This week Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin lent his voice to the Party of War, accusing Putin of seeking world domination and imploring Americans to prepare for more wars to come.

In my view, it was a disgraceful performance. If the war in Ukraine has proved anything, it is that today’s Russia is not the Soviet Union, and has no capability of launching a vast military offensive against the West. Ukraine has revealed the limits of Putin’s ability to make good on his ambitions. I suppose we should be thankful for that.

Austin went on to warn that Putin’s war in Ukraine has raised the specter of nuclear proliferation around the globe. This is a dangerous farce. It is not Russia but the United States under Biden that has encouraged nations around the globe to go nuclear in response to unchecked threats from Iran and Communist China. These potential nuclear weapons states range from Saudi Arabia and Turkey, fearful of a nuclear-armed Iran, to Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, and Australia, who watch the steady rise of an aggressive and uninhibited Chinese Communist Party.

I speak of all these threats during this week’s geopolitical segment on Prophecy Today, where I also recall Russia’s long romance with Iran’s mullahs, something I expose my my new book, And the Rest Is History.

If you haven’t yet read the book or ordered it, you can read a shorthand version of some of the highlights in my interview this week with the Heritage Foundation’s Rob Bluey on his Daily Signal podcast. You can click on that link or paste this one into your web browser:  https://www.dailysignal.com/2022/11/21/war-correspondent-recounts-his-journey-from-political-leftist-to-born-again-christian/
