The Jacksonville Port Authority promoted infrastructure and development leader James Bennett to chief operating officer on Aug. 15.
Bennett served as urban transportation development manager for FDOT for 10 years before moving to the private sector and then joining Jaxport in 2017. He serves as a county commissioner for Baker County.
Bennett managed the completion of the $420 million, 47-foot harbor deepening project, a $100 million berth modernization project, and renovations to improve operational efficiencies at the Jaxport Cruise Terminal, all initiatives to further the growth of the port.
