Orlando attorney and circuit court magistrate Craig McCarthy was appointed Monday to the Ninth Judicial Circuit by Gov. Ron DeSantis.
He is a former chair of the Florida Bar Association’s Public Interest Law Section and founding chair of the section’s Parents Advocacy Committee, the group posted on its website. His private practice spanned 16 years before being appointed in 2021 as magistrate by Chief Judge Donald A. Myers.
McCarthy earned a law degree from Florida State University after gaining a bachelor’s at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point
McCarthy fills the judicial vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Bob LeBlanc.
