7-1-22, Fernandina Beach

Nassau County Fire-Rescue 3101 and the Fernandina Beach Fire Department responded to a ship fire at the port late Sunday evening. 35 firefighters battled the fire for approximately four hours until it was determined to be under control. Approximately two hours later, it was finally out.

The reason for the fire is currently unknown but is under investigation by the US Coastguard’s Investigations Division. No civilians were injured however one NCFR firefighter was transported to Baptist Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Through interlocal agreements, the City and County are able to jointly respond to incidents requiring greater resources. We appreciate this partnership and the ability to better serve the residents of Nassau County.
