Congress’ spending addiction must end. That is why today, I stood up not only for the Fourth District but for all Americans and opposed this bloated appropriations package. The price tag of this misguided measure is a jaw dropping $1.23 TRILLION. It does not address the critical issues we are facing. Rather, it continues Washington’s out of control spending that will bankrupt our economy at the expense of hardworking Americans.Even worse, this misguided measure does little to address our most immediate national security threat—our porous, open border that is being invaded by criminals, gangs, and terrorists. Providing more detention beds and more agents for processing while allowing the administration’s catch-and-release practices to continue will do little to stop the flow of illegal migrants, drugs, and crime into cities across America.I could not in good conscience vote for more exorbitant spending at the expense of taxpayers.SBA MUST BE INVESTIGATED AFTER LOSING $200 BILLION TAXPAYER DOLLARS CLICK HERE FOR AN INSTANT REPLAYBy failing to implement basic guardrails, $200 BILLION in Covid relief funds were stolen from American taxpayers under the SBA’s watch. This is unacceptable and we must dig further. During Wednesday’s Small Business Committee hearing, I asked SBA Administrator Guzman what actions the administration is taking to get our money back.PASSED: BEAN AMENDMENT TO PROTECT FLORIDA FROM FEDERAL OVERREACH CLICK HERE TO WATCHOn Thursday, the House passed my amendment to codify Florida’s 404 Program, as part of H.R. 7023, Creating Confidence in Clean Water Permitting Act. We are good stewards of our unique natural resources in the Sunshine State, and my amendment will continue to give Florida the flexibility to make the development decisions that are best for us. This more than 600-page rule expands federal power over apprenticeships, injects political ideology into the apprenticeship system, and imposes significant burdens on apprenticeship sponsors and job creators. Participants made their voices heard and they clearly want a secure border. The Biden administration needs to take immediate action for the safety of our nation and the American people. If you missed us this time, but would like to join in the future, be sure to sign up to receive the call.
